We had the good fortune of connecting with Mercedes Rangel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mercedes, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
For me, success consists of being happy, being able to do what you like and enjoy economic achievements is the greatest satisfaction in life, success goes beyond the final result of achieving a goal, I believe that satisfaction of achieving success is knowing everything you had to face, good and bad experiences, challenges, failures, losses, learnings, hits, etc. unfortunately we only see the final success, but very few people know how much work and effort it took to get to the top.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always been passionate about art since I was little, in middle school my favorite subject was Art, but I never imagined that I could live from this.

In 2010 I began to get into the world of styling, helping assisting hair stylist in a beauty salon that my older sister Rosa owned, it was there that I decided to study professionally in 2013, completing the cosmetology program and begin my careers in the beauty industry as licensed cosmetologist, doing all types of salon jobs as hair color, nails, makeup, etc.

At the beginning, I worked in different beauty salons, but having 3 little kids back then, made it very difficult to work with salon hours, so I chose to be a Freelance MUA so I could work my own schedule, and decided to focus on hair and makeup services only.

Since 2015 I have taken important workshops and updates with the best makeup artists and hairdressers in Mexico, the US and Brazil, I consider myself an entrepreneur and passionate about business, so in 2018 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, which I am sure that in one way or another has helped me manage my makeup business.

I am in love with what I do and I am committed to offer an excellent makeup and hairstyling service to each client, I continue training to offer the best of myself, I hope to have the opportunity to attend a Fashion Week in Dallas, New York and Paris in the near future.

I feel very proud of the achievements that I have obtained so far, I started this business of makeup and hairstyle services on site in the city of San Luis Potosí, Mexico and despite being a country with a very difficult economy, I have achieved position my brand Mercedes Rangel Makeup as specialists in bridal grooming; we have offered services to hundreds of beautiful brides in different cities who have trusted our work, we have a team of professional stylists dedicated to this beautiful profession of the art of makeup and hairstyle and we continue to grow.

I currently live in Dallas Texas and it has been a bit difficult to manage the business in Mexico remotely, since I personally cannot perform the services, but thanks to the fact that we are in constant training and we select our team very well, the result has been favorable and we continue offering services in Mexico.

At the moment, I´m facing challenges to be able to make my brand known here in the city of Dallas Texas and to be able to reach more clients, however, I trust that my business philosophy would help to position ourselves in the beauty market in Dallas and surroundings, my business philosophy has always been to offer quality and excellent service to each client, in addition to highlighting their inner beauty without changing the style of each one, also our business concept is to offer professional makeup and hairstyle services in the comfort of home, hotel or where our clients request it.

Throughout this career I have learned that worthwhile things are not easy, that there will always be obstacles along the way, but if you are persistent, the result will be worth it and that it is never too late to go after your dreams.

By sharing my story I want to motivate all the women who believe that they cannot get ahead, to work for their dreams, to learn to do something new, not to settle for staying just at home, I want them to know that we are capable of living incredible stories If we set out our mine to achieve it, that they should not settle for working in a place where they are not happy, the money they can earn is worthless, if employers do not value their work and effort, money is important but we can get it by enjoying what we do, life is too short to live stressed and worried about meeting a schedule where you are not happy.

Dedicate yourself to do what you really like and with time, you will be better and better and the money will come as a consequence of that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love coffee, so I would definitely take her for a good coffee in the Bishop Arts area, Downtown Dallas is beautiful, so in the afternoon we would have to visit there, we would have to take a walk in the Klyde Warren Park and we would have a drink in a restaurant in the area, at night we would have to go up to the Reunion Tower to see the spectacular view it offers; without a doubt, I would have to take her to eat a delicious BBQ at Dickeys with a cold beer, I would also have to take her to visit White Rock Lake to walk, appreciating the beautiful views of the place; finally I would take her shopping at North Park Mall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank God because he is always present in my life and he is the one who guides my steps, the unconditional support and love of my husband to always continue to grow as a person and a human being, my 3 children who motivate me to fight every day to be a better person and are my reason in life.
