We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Saylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I created My Suite Tasty Life mainly because of my love for food and travel. I love to share my experiences and expertise of fine and fun food, restaurants, hotels and local events. I’m passionate about capturing photos and videos of everything Dallas has to offer and sharing my experiences with my followers. I think it gives them the feeling that they too want to experience what they see in my work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I first started My Suite Tasty Life it wasn’t easy. Balancing life and trying to grow as a content creator was a full time job. My downtime was working long hours, building my brand, editing photos, learning tips and tricks and trying to figure out how to balance it all. It’s been over five years growing MSTL and I can proudly say I absolutely love what I do!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a question I am asked all the time! What I love about being asked where to go in Texas is that it is constantly changing and growing. In the 13 years I have lived in Texas the restaurant and shopping scene has skyrocketed. I love to show off The Lone Star State to friends and family.

-Downtown Dallas is a definite must when visiting Texas. My favorite spots in Dallas is the AT&T Discovery District, Bishop Arts, Dallas Farmers Market, Historical West End and my favorite Dallas area is Uptown. The restaurants and hotels in these areas are absolutely amazing and have a wonderful historical feel.

-The Star in Frisco is the top spot to visit when you have a Cowboys fan in town. It’s a quaint area with exciting restaurants, lush lounges and casual shopping. Visitors can walk on and take photos on the outdoor Cowboys football field, check out Dallas Cowboys monuments and have a picnic on the field. Everything is Dallas Cowboy themed at The Star including the glorious Omni Frisco Hotel.

-Arlington is the home of Texas sports. Take a trip to Arlington and you will find the Cowboys AT&T Football Stadium, Texas Rangers Globe Life Field, Texas LIVE, a two story food hall with lots of restaurants, free standing bars, PBR with a mechanical bull, delicious Texas BBQ joints and a giant big screen to watch games and a stage to host local bands. Loews Hotel is just steps away from Globe Life Field and Texas LIVE. It’s the ultimate hotel to stay at for the sports lover in your life.

-North Texas has a lot of great cities and showoff areas. Plano is a restaurant and shopping mecca. Shops at Boardwalk and Legacy West are a few of my favorite spots. Visit Plano if you’re looking for high end restaurants and luxury shopping including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Tiffany & Co. Historic Downtown McKinney is a quaint historical square with artisan based restaurants, one of a kind shopping boutiques and antique stores. McKinney is also the only city in Texas that you can walk the streets with a cocktail, beer or glass of wine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shoutout to my husband who joins me on most of my adventures. He does all my luggage hefty lifting, he’s my second set of eyes, my plus one and he always knows the camera eats first!
