We had the good fortune of connecting with Melba Denman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melba, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It started out as just a hobby for a few months, then I started giving it to family members. My family started urging me to sell it that it was good and better than what they were getting in store. I was still skeptical so I started giving it to friends and after getting rave reviews from them and talking with my husband about the venture I took the leap of faith and started my business. It has started off slow but is growing more and more each day. I am excited to see what the future holds!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It is woman owned small business here in Texas and pride myself with making sure the products are made with quality ingredients. Everything from a simple bath bar to the body butters and body oils has been cultivated to provide excellent quality at an affordable price. What sets me apart is that I do not sell anything I would not give a family member. No detergent, animal testing and only the good stuff to my family and my customers. All of the products are tested by me and my family before it is even listed as a product as I take product quality very seriously. We are small business so only small batches made with care.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am really more of an introvert so my friends know this but my time with my friend(s) would probably go like this :

Day 1-Hard 8 BBQ in Coppell to get thier awesome ribs and sides!!

Day 2-Go to the grapevine mills mall for shopping and food and maybe catch a movie. Shopping is our sport so we love the stores.

Day 3 we would check out the shops at Tanger Outlet and maybe take in some food there at the outlet mall or go stop by the iconic Buccee’s for their pulled pork sandwiches I mean the sandwiches are good! My bestie loves their sandwiches so that is always a hit.

Day 4 show them the Dallas Arboretum gardens to really take in the beautiful scenery and then find a local restaurant to have dinner and a few drinks.

Day 5 we would likely go then go to Frisco to check out the sculpture garden since I have not done this yet.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband really encouraged me to pursue my passion in making soaps and body butters and then in helping me open my online store. He was really the one who planted the seed that I need to really sell my products and I really am thankful for him being in my corner. He has been awesome in helping me with the long nights of making products to meet large order deadlines, tackling the website build with me and staying up at night to help me with packaging orders. My family has been a hugely supportive and are my cheer squad for really keeping me going. They help me with events and are so awesome for giving me input and really just being there thru it all. I am truly blessed to have so many people in my corner.
