We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Truman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meghan, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is recognizing how big of a thief Father Time can be.
As a mother I quickly realized that the tiny details fade all too fast. The little dimples in the fingers. The squishy thighs. The sleepy, milk drunk smiles. They’re there one day and gone the next! This is especially true for newborns, and little children, but the same concept still applies to senior year, or a young couples engagement. These are all momentous times of life, but are also all too fleeting.
The first few months after my baby was born I felt like time was slipping through my fingers. From one day to the next he seemed to change and grow so much! This is why I have such a love for photography. Why the galleries I send my clients are filled with so many tiny details. Each photo showcasing the quiet, often unseen, motherly moments. For me photography is more than taking a pretty picture. It’s about capturing fading moments. Giving my clients something they can hold on to when their memory gets foggy.
My focus for every session is how I can best capture this special time of life. How I can best tell this part of my client’s story. How I can preserve all the love and details. With this focus my client galleries become rich in meaning, and contain emotion-filled images. These galleries are treasures, and their value only grows with time.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is how crucial positive relationships are.
This applies to multiple aspects of my business. My relationships with my clients. My ability to capture relationships in timeless photographs. My need to balance work and personal life in order to not neglect relationships with those most important to me. Understanding and valuing relationships has been key to being a successful photographer.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend is also a momma so we’d for sure go to visit the Fort Worth Zoo. We might even go multiple times depending on how much our little ones love watching Brazos the Baby Elephant play in the water. A shopping spree at Collins and Conley would also be a must. It’s the cutest baby and children’s clothing boutique and is located at The Shops at Clearfork. Once we were done we’d treat ourselves to some gelato from Amorino’s just a couple shops away.
We’d have to spend at least one day being ultimate tourists at the Stockyards. We’d watch the cattle drive, do the maze for the little kids, and get a couple classic western items as souvenirs of our time walking the red brick roads. We’d grab lunch at the Biscuit Bar, and then a classic dinner on Joe T. Garcia’s patio. A concert at Billy Bob’s would be a perfect end to the day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First is God. Second my hubby. Third my incredible clients!
The success I’ve seen wouldn’t be possible without the grace of God. He has blessed me in every step along my journey, and His fingerprints can be seen on every aspect of my business.
Second only to my Heavenly Father, is my husband. My sweet hubby has done so much to encourage and support me. His time is currently being pulled in a million different directions as he works on getting his MD from TCU. Yet, he always makes time to watch our baby boy when I go to my evening sessions, and continuously encourages me to reach my potential. He’s also the best at getting my favorite client (aka our son) to smile for the million and one photos I take of him!
And while they are third on my list, my clients are without a doubt what I love most about my business! I’m so incredibly grateful for the trust they put in me to capture such special moments. Getting to meet and serve so many incredible individuals has been such a blessing in my life, and is what inspires me to continue to do what I do.
