We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Cabra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meghan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Throughout my life, I’ve always steered more towards creative hobbies and careers. From working at a beauty store, to cutting mens hair, my interests – as a whole has been in the beauty industry. I used to be really into special effects makeup, and that’s the reason why I originally wanted to go to cosmetology school. In an effort to broaden my skills in the beauty industry. While in cosmetology school, I learned about eyelash extensions and decided that’s what I wanted to try next and I haven’t really looked back!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m the most proud of how far I’ve come with eyelash extensions. I’ve been doing lashes for over 5 years now, and I’ve tried to go off and venture into different avenues, but I always come back to lashes. It wasn’t easy, and in the beauty industry, you’re never a master at what you’re doing because it’s always changing and new things are always coming along. I’ve learned to never settle, and always strive to learn more. Also, that all lash artists are unique with their styles, and their journey, and to never compare myself to their success. That being said, I have been able to dive head first into my own style and way of doing things as it pertains to my own business. I’d want people to know that there are so many different options, aesthetics, and uniqueness in any business – and you’ll definitely find those hidden gems if you look hard enough. We’re here, and excited to be given a chance!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love going to the Hearth Wisdom Store in Pantego, I get a lot of my crystals and incense there. If you’re into antiquing, the Montgomery Street Antique Mall in Fort Worth is huge and has a ton of cool antiques and collectibles. Dog Haus has really good food if you’re into burgers and fries. If you’re looking to get a new tattoo while in town, definitely go to Panther City Tattoo in Fort Worth – that’s where I get most of my tattoos!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom and dad have been my day ones through all of this! They’ve always had my back and helped me a lot through cosmetology school and to get to where I am today in my career.
