Meet Megan Clayton | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Clayton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a career in photography because it allows me to combine creativity with storytelling. I’ve always been drawn to the power of visual imagery—how a single photo can capture emotion, preserve a moment in time, or tell a story without words. Photography gives me the chance to connect with people, places, and cultures in a meaningful way, while constantly learning and evolving. It’s not just a profession for me, it’s a way of seeing and interacting with the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It has not been the easiest road to get to where I am today, but I would not change it for the world. There were a lot of ups and downs, but for me, that is part of the process. If it was all easy then you wouldn’t learn half of the things you know! I have always gone back to the quote “Life isn’t about avoiding the storms, but learning to dance in the rain. The highs make us grateful, and the lows make us stronger.” The lows of being rejected allowed me to re work all of my branding, social media posting, as well as changing the way I interact with different clients to better accommodate their needs and wants when it comes to their photos. I want the world to know that it is okay to fail, it is okay to not know all the answers, and it is okay to be different than other people in you same line of work.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Taking a tour through the Dallas Fort Worth area would be my go to- a true introduction to Texas! The Fort Worth Botanical gardens is a place i actually discovered while doing an engagement shoot. It is a beautiful space perfect for someone needing a peaceful recharge. If you are into the thrill of a rodeo I would definitely recommend the Fort Worth Stock Yards. From the historic buildings to the incredible restaurants and the powerful rodeo, there are never ending possibilities to have a fun filled day. Last but not least, if you have a pup and are looking for place to stroll, Klyde Warren Park is an amazing location filled with plenty of food trucks and live music!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have always had a passion for photography, but having the people I have in my corner has made all of the difference. My husband and family have always seen and encouraged my passion for photography. My husband, in particular encouraged me to take the leap into turning my passion into something more than just a hobby. My family believed in me even when I doubted myself, and their support has given me the confidence to turn what I love into a career.
