We had the good fortune of connecting with Maybrie Gigon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maybrie, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
From a very early age Maybrie has loved modeling. She started modeling when she was two months old. She was first chosen to be the baby model for the brand Mustard Pie clothing. Over the years she has continuously modeled for them and their sister company Little Prim several times in both Charleston and Chicago. She also has modeled for many other boutique brands such as, Sew Chill , Olive Mae, Southern Grace, Itty bitty Toes, JK Kids Supply, Anna Triant Couture, Bentley and Lace and several others. Maybrie has been on the cover of Suburban Parent Magazine 4 times and also DFW Child. When she was 2 she signed with The Clutts agency in Dallas and eventually switched to The Campbell Agency where she continues her passion, with her very favorite agent Diana Dyer and talent agent Tory Wilmoth. Since she has been at The Campbell Agency she has booked print jobs with companies such as Army Airforce Exchange, Belk , JCPenney, KidKraft, Step2, Educational Insights, Discovery Toys, and Saint Bernard and in addition she has also been walking fashion shows and runway since she was 4 for Neiman Marcus , The Pinshow and others. She has also appeared on the Fox 4 Today show and the show Murder Made Me Famous, along with a recent commercial for HexBug. Over the years in between she has also been trained in acting with Cathryn Sullivan and has done editorial styled shoots with many talented photographers. Although she has many accomplishments many people don’t see all the time invested in auditions, callbacks, go see’s , learning lines, the huge amount of disappointments and all the driving and waiting . It has taught her so much about life and the real world . Today she is 8 years old, and even though she is very young her experiences have shaped her to have a passion, deep appreciation and patience for the modeling and acting world . Like most 8 year olds she still enjoys playing with dolls and riding her bike, but she really loves watching reruns of America’s Next Top Model, doing yoga, as well as shooting beautiful editorial photoshoots and even nicknamed herself “The Modeler” . She also has decided to study French because she truly hopes one day her passion and love specifically for modeling will take her to Paris as well as many other beautiful countries.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets Maybrie apart is she is a professional at the age of 8, unlike a lot of 8 yrs old’s she can sit and work all day on a commercial set. She follows direction very well and she understands about being patient. A hug challenge is that she has learned about hard work while at the same time she has also learned at a young age you cant always get what you want in life. The modeling and acting world is extremely competitive and at times feels unfair. I have taught her to be grateful for an audition , honored for a call back and then we can celebrate for booking a job its all a privilege.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Maybrie is a vegetarian so her favorite restaurant would be The Spiral Diner and she loves giraffes , she could spend all the at The Dallas Zoo.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Diana Dyer who has been Maybrie’s print agent at The Campbell Agency since she was a toddler has always had faith in and pushed for her. Jenny Miller is an amazing friend and photographer who has shot Maybrie many times and encouraged her to grow as a model. Jin Hale and Julie Merchant who are 2 of the most amazing model mom friends who have children of their own in the industry and understand the highs and lows and love and support Maybrie so unconditionally
