We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxime Blandin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maxime, what role has risk played in your life or career?

I see risk as an opportunity to grow. Since I started this path of entrepreneurship, I had to not be scared of the unknown and take risks early on. Stepping out of my comfort zone and facing the risk of failure gave me the energy and motivation to succeed. I came to the US when I was 15 years old speaking zero English. My family was back home, and it was either sink or swim.

I see risk as an opportunity to grow. Since I began my entrepreneurial journey, I have had to overcome my fear of the unknown and take risks from the start. By stepping out of my comfort zone and facing the risk of failure, I gained the energy and motivation to succeed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

PlantSwitch has been a journey. We started the company about four years ago and it has gone from creating a cool brand to now having an opportunity to reshape the plastic industry. We have transitioned from a successful seller to now possessing a technology that Fortune 500 companies are interested in. Although it wasn’t easy, we are now finally seeing all the sacrifices and hard work we’ve put in over the past few years.

Patience has been the most important lesson I’ve learned over the past few years. Great things don’t happen overnight. The key is to be patient and maintain a good energy and attitude towards life and business. Several times, my co-founder and I looked at each other, wondering if we could make it happen. We took a risk, and now after four years, it is starting to pay off.

We want to tell manufacturers/brands that we have a real solution to reduce their plastic consumption. We have developed a technology that is affordable and doesn’t release microplastic when it breaks down in the environment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I have deep affection for Dallas. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. Although I have French roots, Texas/Dallas is where I feel home.

Going to Clyde Warren Park for a walk with my friend is something I would definitely do. I am a fan of this area and we will make our way uptown by stopping at Namo (one of my favorite sushi places in town). Our next destination is the Highland Park village, Where we will have a drink at mi Cosina. The atmosphere is friendly and the drinks are outstanding.

Dinner will be difficult as Dallas offers many good options. The location will be between these 5 spots:
-Drakes
-Hudson House
-Beverly
-Fachini
-Muchacho

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out goes to all my friends at Trinity forest golf club! They know who they are. They had faith in me from the start and took me under their wing. This group of people has made me the man I am today. They had faith in PlantSwitch and provided me with resources at an early stage for growth.
