Meet Matt Harris | Owner at Herculean Supplements

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am passionate about fitness and nutrition. It is really that simple. I love this industry. I love the grit and drive that comes from this community. We wanted to open a place where people like us could go and buy supplements and get more than a cashier. We wanted to open a supplement shop where people could come and talk about their goals and get a customized stack rather than just a standard recommendation. Our clients are people like us who want to be able to trust what they are putting in their body and know that it is helping them reach their fitness goals. Opening Herculean Supplements was so much more than a business decision, it was a passion project. We are family owned and operated. Me, my wife, and my best friend are the owners at Herculean and we all have a similar mindset when it comes to this business. We want to help people, we love seeing people’s results and success stories when they buy from us.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Herculean Supplements is a retail supplement shop. We offer products ranging from vitamins, protein powder, BCAAs, pre-workouts etc. We are passionate about quality and never sacrificing that for profit margin. We love supporting local brands, and most importantly we only carry products that we personally trust. We carefully review labels and do extensive research before agreeing to carry any new products to make sure that it is something we would feel comfortable recommending to our clients. The big thing that sets us apart is our in store process. We are going to be honest with you… and sometimes that means we might actually steer you away from buying a product on our shelves because we don’t think it would be helpful for you in reaching your goals. I personally run the shop Monday- Friday 10-5 because I love interacting with our customers and building relationships. I love new customers become regulars and I get to see their progress every step of the way.

As I mentioned before, we are family owned and operated. My son who is 1 year old comes to the shop with me every day which is a really huge benefit to having a family business and I have loved getting to spend every day with him. Also a fun plus is that customers love seeing the baby when they come in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anytime we have people in from out of town we either take them to downtown McKinney because that is one of our favorite spots to hang out. We love grabbing a pizza at Cadillac Pizza Pub and taking it to go over to Landon’s winery to drink wine and listen to live music. And of course you can’t forget to grab dessert at Emporium Pies, or if its day time you have to make sure and grab a drink at The Yard. I am also a huge brunch guy, My wife and I are suckers for bottomless mimosas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It would be misleading to call this business “my success”. We are family owned and operated so me, my wife Courtney and my friend Coty are equal part owners and all have a huge part in running and operating Herculean. I really want to shoutout our customers! We have had such an amazing client base since day one. People who have continued to support our small business and encourage us along the way. It has been so incredible to watch our community grow and we are so thankful for all the people who have continued to trust us for their supplements and guidance in their fitness journey.
