We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary and Lauren and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary and Lauren, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We both loved the idea of the birthday yard signs, but wanted something for our toddlers. We wanted to create yard signs that kids got excited about when they are too young to read. We thought a giant cupcake or unicorn in the yard would be fun when they saw the sign so, they knew immediately it was for them!
It was also the onset of Covid and we were both planning drive by birthday parties for our kids. We were talking about what to do for them to make it extra special. And YardFetti was born!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are Mary and Lauren, two local moms who started, YardFetti in 2020. That year was so hard for so many people. We wanted to create something that brought joy and light to the world.
We naively started by designing 5 yard signs… and quickly realized it wasn’t enough. We have since created many many more. We are a yard sign company with large designs to place in your yard. Our signs celebrate all milestones in life. We wanted something that our young kids who couldn’t read yet could recognize and easily know it’s for them! But, also something that could make adults smile and feel appreciated. We have everything from cupcakes, unicorns, dino’s, dump trucks, sports balls, rainbows, mermaids, champagne bottle/glasses and many more. We rent our yard signs out to individuals. We deliver and pick up our signs so that our customers can simply enjoy the celebration.
We also sell holiday YardFetti signs for people to keep for years to come! These are smaller signs perfect for flower beds. They are easy to store and weatherproof. Perfect for the holidays that we love and want to celebrate year after year.
When we launched our business we instantly had people reach out to us asking if we would be willing to expand to other cities. We now have 5 licensees in other cities who rent YardFetti to their communities. If you live in or around Mansfield, North Fort Worth, Midlothian/Waxahachie, Cleburne or Midland check out their YardFetti social media pages.
We got to where we are today by a lot of countless hours of trying to build and create our business. At the beginning and even still now, we are constantly trying to positively promote our brand. YardFetti is about celebrating others and we try to do that in lots of areas. A goal of ours is that every interaction with our customers will be a positive one. We believe that we’ve been given a lot in our business opportunities and want to return that generosity to others.
We are proud of how hard we’ve worked and the name we’ve created for ourselves. We are also very proud of the fact that everyone that is a part of the YardFetti team is a locally owned small business. Our printer, designer, lawyer, and accountant are all in DFW.
We want the world to know that YardFetti is committed to bringing joy and light to our community. Whether that be through yard signs, donations or a conversation with our customers. We love people and celebrations. Our goal is to help people feel seen and recognized through our yard signs!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Mary’s idea for Fort Worth visitors:
A visit to the stockyards. See the cattle drive and take a walk down exchange avenue. Dinner at Provender Hall and drinks at the Drover.
A day at the lake…. We visit Eagle Mountain lake frequently and love it there.
A lunch at Heim BBQ.
Dinner at Joe T’s. The atmosphere is just amazing!
Tour the Rangers stadium and go to a game if in season!
And honestly a night at home… ordering Mama’s Pizza and sitting on our patio!
Lauren’s ideas for Fort Worth Visitors:
Dinner and margaritas at Joe Ts for sure! Probably a trip to the stockyards and Billy Bobs while we are down there too!
A visit to Clearfork for shopping and dining.
Pending what season it is, a TCU Football game (Go Frogs!) if they’re playing, or a walk around the campus.
The Ft Worth Zoo is always a fun adventure for all ages too!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our husbands! They have been behind us 1000% percent. They have literally helped by staking signs, designing our website, picking up signs, and delivering. Not to mention so much more! They truly believe in us and our business!
