We had the good fortune of connecting with Marteja Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marteja, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
The possibilities of it all. Nothing changes if you choose to give up and if you don’t give up, everything changes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been painting for about three years now. I started during Covid shortly after giving birth to my daughter. It was like an outlet for me since I was going through postpartum depression.

Painting helped me channel all of my energy and release so much I held inside. It was beautiful really. I never felt more connected to myself than I do now.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely a museum/gallery type of vibe. Then to the Gulch lol I’m more of a nature person though. So maybe on a hike somewhere as well at the beginning of the day and make the museum trip at the end.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom, Jassica, she’s the reason I started painting during postpartum.
