We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquitta Beasley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquitta, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was to create a stream of passive income that allowed me the flexibility to still be a stay at home mom to my two boys . I started my businesses based on logic , necessity and my kids . It was vital to me that I didn’t just throw them in a day care to enslave myself at any 9-5 that I would have possibly hated .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the owner founder of Haus of Blaq . A creative company , designed to to meet all creative needs . We offer photography , creative direction , digital advertising , influencer marketing and so much more . I am the only photographer to offer payment plans and a luxury photography / creative experience . With a hair and make up stylist included wine water and refreshments , we make creating with you an oasis.
Whether your a consumer or a part of the team , Haus of Blaq creates opportunities for everybody it comes across.

I got to where I am today professionally by continually networking , and building client relationships through satisfying lasting experiences .

Nothing about my journey to an award winning business was easy . I tackled big and small personal challenges along the way . I cried and wanted to give up many times .

I want the world to know that the Haus of Blaq brand was built on the premise of creating a legacy for my boys that could also help pay my bills and with that I’ve grown to a height that I couldn’t have even expected . This makes quitting harder and harder each day . I want the world to know that I don’t have a highschool diploma, business degree or any credentials other then my work ethic , knowledge and talent . And look mama I’ve made it .
Doors closed , I opened my own .
I applied for the positions I didn’t seem qualified for because I knew I had the expertise . Everything I’ve wanted I went and got it. Go get yours .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend visited we’d first go to Ava’s cuisine and catering for good eats . La costentita for good drinks and music , o Brian art gallery and we’d definitely spend some time exploring and learning the city together . Being new here from New York I’m still learning where the hidden gems are each day .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my village , from god to my mom ,to the kids grandparents , team members of Haus of Blaq ( hair & make up , assistants etc . ) and our one and only child care provider . everyone in one way or another has played a major part in supporting, growing and encouraging my goals , brand and business endeavors. We’re a team , and my team mates work with me NOT FOR ME .
