We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquila Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquila, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of Quila’s Angels Inc dedicated to my sons Eric Jr & Cameron Turner who I lost at birth to Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD). Keeping their memories alive and helping others is helping me in my healing journey. I know my sons are proud of me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Quila’s Angels Inc is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing grief and healing support to women and families who have lost a child. We donate care packages to hospitals in the Dallas Fort Worth area for bereaved families to make memories of their baby. Also, we have our Annual Angel Moms Brunch the day before Mother’s Day for our local mamas to come eat, share their stories and get support. What sets me apart from others is my heart, everything I do, I do from my heart, God and my sons. I want make sure no one have to go through loss alone. I’m most proud when I receives thank you messages from women and families, telling me how I have helped them. “ You can always give something, even if it is only Kindness.” I’m excited about my newest project “Sisterhood of Angel Mama’s”, is a mobile app for mamas who endured pregnancy and infant loss, neonatal loss, SIDS and infertility to express their grief, pain, loss and healing in a safe, warm and caring environment. I got to where I am today by putting God 1st, telling my story, speaking my truth and helping others. No, it was not easy! Telling my story was hard at first because I was afraid of being judged and after a while I realized that it’s not about what other people think, it’s about me speaking my truth so others can speak their truth. I want anyone who’s reading this article to speak your truth no matter how hard it is, your truth can be the light in someone else life. There’s no lessons I learned along the way, just blessings from God. My faith in God is what gotten me this far and will get me farther. What I want the world to know about me and my organization is that we are making a difference in someone’s life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Uptown Dallas is a great area to hang out, lots of restaurants and shopping centers. I will most definitely take my friend there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
PKD Foundation- North Texas Chapter is a nonprofit organization that has welcomed me, my sons and my family with open arms to their nonprofit organization. Awesome ladies, I’m blessed to have met them and be apart of their organization.
