Meet Marquesha Chaney | Licensed Mental Health Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquesha Chaney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquesha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started Harvesting Hope Counseling, my desire was to provide my community with more options for healing. There were many therapists who offered individual therapy, that time, but not many that provided group therapy. I knew the healing power of group therapy both personally and professionally. After finding myself going through a divorce, group therapy was a place that transformed my heart, so I wanted to make that type of healing assessable to everyone.
As my practice grew, I began noticing the number of women who were struggling to keep afloat with the demands of life. Many were suffering in silence, feeling powerless, and disconnected from everyone around them. I saw how the fear of being a burden wearing hard on their emotional health. Once I recognized the pain, I wanted to do my part to help women heal and break free from the barriers holding them back from fully living life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am owner of Harvesting Hope Counseling where I specialize in working with teen girls 15+ and women who overwhelmed with the pressures of life and the demands of their daily roles. They are usually facing issues like feeling emotionally empty or numb, reliving traumatic experiences, dealing with the pain of losing a loved one, unhealthy relationship boundaries, or poor confidence. I help them overcome the obstacles that hinder their healing process and learn how to reconnect with life again!
What makes my counseling practice unique is that I tailor therapy to meet the unique needs of every person that I work with. Talk therapy doesn’t always meet the needs of every person desiring therapy, so I also provide the innovative therapeutic services of Brainspotting and EMDR which are brain-body based therapy methods. For those with limited time to devote to long-term therapy, I also provide 2 or 3-day marriage and individual therapy intensives!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely visit Benihana, Grandscape, the Dallas Flea Market, and Andretti’s. I must admit that underneath my professionalism I’m a huge kid at heart who enjoys every moment spent with my loved ones!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are two people who heavily influenced my growth throughout my professional journey, Bill Taylor and Theresa King. They are both former supervisors who have always provided support, encouragement, and mentorship to me throughout the different phases of my career. I owe much of my success to these two amazing people!
