We had the good fortune of connecting with Marko Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marko, what do you attribute your success to?
I’ve learned that having the right people in the right roles, supporting the business is what makes the difference between being successful and just surviving.
I love what I do, and that’s a big part of it but it’s unrealistic to think that I will also be the best person at all aspects of what it takes to be successful. I love being able to focus on what I love doing and know that the rest of the business is being taken care of by the right people.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a chef is not a job for me, it’s what I am passionate about. I am Puerto Rican but I was fortunate enough to be trained in Costa Rica and traveled over Europe so I feel like my unique blend of flavors from a variety of counties gives my menu something special that you don’t see every day.
Being a food truck owner during hurricane Maria was definitely the hardest and most challenging thing I’ve been through. I’ve learned that you can have a plan in place but you need to be able to go with the flow and adapt when the situation needs.
I’m proud to still be open for business after Maria and now Covid and I am excited for the future as my brand is able to grow
I want the world to know that it is not easy to follow your dreams and passion but it’s worth all of the challenges and frustrations it comes with. When you follow your passion and you do that, you never really have to “work”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
