Meet Marisela Lugar | Embroidery and Crochet Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisela Lugar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisela, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by nature and children. I love to see how a new special hand crafted garnment brings them and their mamas joy! Most children light up when they see their personalized gift especially with their name on it and the babies just look do adorable in them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I embroider pictures and names and/or monogram lettering on clothing or other gifts using yarn and embroidery floss. I love to bring to life garments from mamas/clients imaginations for their children and other loved ones. Hand-embroidered clothing is a small luxury item that I make affordable so that anyone can have it. I offer emboidery services on any garment they would like to send in to get embroidered to save money. I am most proud of the range of items I can embroider on. I am a Christian artist and I pray over every child and their garnment whom I make clothing for. I keep a prayer book where I put their name in to continue to pray for them. The most challenging part of my business would be getting my name out there, especially on social media. It is also challenging to make items ahead and create a stock because the garments are mostly personalized and come in such variety. I am excited to help bring a small luxury personalized clothing item that will make mama happy and is affordable. If it’s not affordable and someone wants to request an item in their budget, I will make it happen!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am not too familiar with the city as I am new to the area, but if my best friend visited I would ask her to come during fall or christmas. We would start the week by eating Tex-Mex in Dallas city, I would get her pampered at Anomalia society and World Springs. We would have to get some Fogo de Chao and because I love nature I would be taking her to the Texas Discovery Gardes for the monarch butterfly release and the Dallas Arboretum. During christmas I would have to show her the ice sculptures at the Gaylord Texan Resort. I would not let my friend leave without trying Texas BBQ from Hutchin’s and Texas sized snacks from Bucees! Lastly we would have to take the kids to KidZania and the Texas State Fair for the best eats.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister who inspired me to start when she asked me to embroider the name of her first daughter on a knitted sweater. Also, my husband who is always there to help with his opinion and second set of eyes. Most of all god for giving us beautiful children to create art for.
