Hi Marie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success — and the success of my brand — has been staying deeply rooted in purpose while constantly striving for excellence. I didn’t build MBR Studio or my beauty ventures to just offer makeup or aesthetics; I built them to empower women, celebrate diversity, and elevate confidence through personalized, high-quality beauty experiences. What has helped me stand out is my commitment to learning, innovation, and most importantly, staying true to my values — no shortcuts, just passion, discipline, and a deep desire to serve. Whether I’m working with a celebrity, a VIP, or training a beginner, I bring the same energy: make people feel seen, beautiful, and worthy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is more than just makeup — it’s about transformation, confidence, and celebrating identity. I specialize in luxury makeup, brow tattooing, and beauty education, with a deep focus on enhancing natural beauty rather than masking it. What sets me apart is my attention to detail, my ability to work with all skin tones, and my calm, discreet energy — especially when working with high-profile or VIP clients who value privacy.

I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to build an international brand rooted in authenticity, excellence, and empowerment. From Senegal to the U.S., from intimate sessions to large masterclasses, every client and student I’ve worked with has helped shape my path.

But getting here was not easy. I left a stable career in finance to pursue my passion for beauty — with no guarantees. As a Black woman building a luxury brand in a competitive industry, I faced skepticism, financial pressure, and self-doubt. What helped me push through was my deep faith, my relentless work ethic, and my belief that I was meant to make an impact through beauty. I stayed focused, invested in my training, and never compromised on quality or integrity.

What I want the world to know is this: MBR Studio was built with heart. It’s not just a beauty brand — it’s a platform for transformation. Whether you’re a bride, a CEO, or a beginner learning to hold a brush for the first time, I see you, and I want you to feel beautiful, powerful, and seen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t go out often, but when I do, I love to enjoy beautiful spaces, delicious food, and good company — so if my best friend were visiting, I’d definitely create a week that blends luxury, culture, and unforgettable flavors.

We’d start with a sunset dinner at Lagon or La Cabane du Pêcheur, where you can enjoy fresh seafood right by the ocean.

During the day, we’d explore the cultural side of the city — maybe a visit to Gorée Island for its deep history, a tour of the Museum of Black Civilizations, and a stop at Village des Arts to connect with local creatives.

Mid-week, we’d recharge with a relaxing spa day at Azalaï or Escale D’Orient followed by lunch at Chez Fatou or Cercle de l’Union, both stunning waterfront spots with excellent service. And of course, I’d take them to Alkimia or Le Belluga for a refined culinary experience in the evening.

At the end of the week, I’d plan a day trip to Saly for a beach escape.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. While I’ve worked incredibly hard to build my career, I could never have done it alone. My first shoutout goes to my family — especially my mother, whose strength, grace, and work ethic shaped who I am. I also owe so much to the incredible women I’ve had the honor of serving — clients, students, and collaborators — who trusted me with their faces and stories. They’ve challenged me, inspired me, and reminded me why I do what I do.

Professionally, I’m grateful to the mentors who poured into me, the beauty professionals who paved the way, and the global community that welcomed my vision. Spiritually, I give thanks to God, whose guidance and timing continue to direct every step of my path. My success is truly a reflection of both personal perseverance and the love and light of others.
