We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Zalmanoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I don’t believe in balance. In my opinion, we all have priorities, and depending on the stage of life you’re in, those priorities determine where your time is spent. If you’re opening a new business, chances are your time is largely relegated towards things to make sure the business is successful.
If you’re a new parent, you spend more time wiping butts and feeding another human than you ever imagined!
If you’re training for an event such as a triathlon or obstacle course endurance race, you most likely will work out more hours than any other time in your life.
None of those are negative scenarios, but rather a shift in the time you’re dedicating for what’s important in your life at the moment. I think most people would be well served to stop searching for balance in their lives, simply look at what’s important, and spend their time wisely.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a health and fitness coach for 20 years now, having worked in everything from big box gyms to owner my own facility (as I currently do). Doing anything for that length of time certainly comes with a fair share of trials and tribulations.

I’m most proud of the perseverance I’ve been able to apply over the years. There were plenty of times I questioned if I was still supposed to be in the fitness industry. There were plenty of times there was more month than money. But the passion I have for helping others never wained.

Several years ago I was able to start investing in business coaching, and it proved to be a turning point in my career. I started to surround myself with other successful people and learn from their successes and failures.

Over the last few years I’ve invested tens of thousands of dollars in my own personal growth and development. This has allowed me to fast track certain aspects of my business and life and view things from a bigger lens. My mission to serve others is stronger than ever, and I’m able to do it not only thru coaching people in their health and fitness journey, but helping other fitness coaches grow and scale their businesses as well.

I strive to leave the world a better place each and every day, and I weave that message into everything I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve lived in Frisco since 2007, and watching this city grow has been incredible. If someone was visiting the area, the first place I’d recommend visiting would be The Star. The history of the Dallas Cowboys, the playing field open to the public, and the vibe of the whole area is awesome. When it comes to food, Hutchins BBQ is a must, along with Kenny’s Burger Joint and Salsa Tex-Mex, all local favorites that give visitors a true flavor of Texas.
And if you want a fashion show, a car show, and great people watching, Legacy West is a must. That area showcases the extravagant side of an area that’s grown quickly in population and status over the years.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When it comes to someone in my life who has had tremendous influence in my growth as a human, as well as in business, it would be none other than my wife! Laura, a coach and business owner as well, pushes me each and every day to be a better person, to dream bigger, and to strive for greatness in all aspects of life. I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for her, and I can certainly say it’s been way more joyful with her by my side!
