We had the good fortune of connecting with Mama Virgo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mama, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to start my own business, I was exhausted of my current reality. First off, I prefer to utilize the term “legacy building vehicle” because that was and is really my idea behind this all. I needed to create a life that felt good for me now and forever and could greatly benefit my children. I currently have three children, and I have always desired a large family, however I knew that wasn’t possible living off of government assistance and a “hard-working” man. When I began this journey, I was in a devoted partnership, and we were struggling desperately and I absolutely could not continue in that reality. I had to create wealth of my own that was not dependent on mine or anyone else’s circumstances.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my line of work, the key is authenticity, vulnerability, and presence. I truly see myself as no different from anyone else who is highly successful or great at what they do. What may set us apart is simply the level we are on or may have accessed in this current space. I got to where I am today with the willingness to grow, to expand, to elevate myself for good. There is still so much for me to master, it takes time, dedication, energy, and sacrifice. The challenges I have overcame and continue to overcome at times leave me defeated, questioning myself, and at times, stuck. In order to breakthrough, I meditate, I pray, I spend time with Nature, I focus on the present moment and the things that I can control right now. Along the way, I have learned that I am capable of anything I put my mind to so my mindset really matters. I want the world to know that I am who I am because of what I have grown through, and I pour all of that wisdom and experience into my brand and my work. Being a Mother to three children gives me the wisdom and knowledge to pour into my work as an Ancestral Birth Worker. My unique and very personal spiritual journey gives me the insight to support and guide others lovingly and honestly. My authenticity inspires and fuels my work as a Holistic Wellness Coach and I share these truths in my work. Our personalities are our unique gifts that allow us to serve the collective, and this is who I am and what my work reflects.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I wish I got out more than I do! I have lived in and loved the DFW Metroplex my entire life, yet in my adult life I haven’t explored much with a fresh perspective. Eating out is not something I do often because I love homecooked meals. A few places that I do visit when I am ready to enjoy a delicious meal prepared at the hands of someone else is Sankofa Kitchen on Wheatland Rd, also Shiva’s Bar and Grill has been warmly adopted by my tummy, and I also enjoy Pan African Connection’s Ubuntu Farmer’s Market. Specifically the jackfruit tacos that are served by a brother named Anthony, they are so delicious and my mouth is watering thinking about them right now. Also Pan African Connection is just a great place in general to frequent for communal experiences, healthy items, and uplifting energy. Plus I love to bring my babies along for their African Drum Circle. Of course if it’s my bestie, we would be outside! Exploring places like Marion Samson Park, River Legacy Oaks Park, the trails near the Skyline Bridge, walking up and down the Trinity River and obviously enjoying Downtown Fort Worth and Downtown Dallas because the culture and history is so rich, you can not miss out on it when you come to visit Texas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am grateful for Parish Blair of SexySpiritTV, Altovia McNeal of Sisterhood Circle Inc., LaSheral Brooks who sponsored my space into Sisterhood Circle Inc., and Ashley Rudd of Wealthy Women Academy. Their support, their drive, their willingness to see me and see more than just what was on the outside but to see in me what I always saw in myself continued to inspire me to meet the highest version of my Self that I can. Their knowledge on shifting financial mindset, their faith, and their uniqueness are all worthy of recognition and I am deeply grateful for these ladies!
