We had the good fortune of connecting with Malvin Earlonzo Porchia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malvin Earlonzo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Years ago I decided I wanted to work for myself. I was working 12hr sifts at a privately owned warehouse. I would drive my forklift thinking about how I was in that warehouse freezing during the winters and sweating during the summers. Thinking somewhere out there the owner was probably on a beach collecting millions. I have always been a dedicated worker, strived to be the best at whatever I choose to do. Thing is, working for other companies I have never felt of value nor appreciated. I know for a fact I value and appreciate my self more than any employer ever will. Plus nothing beats the flexibility I have now to make time for those I love. True I might work more than ever but I do have a say of when and where I choose to work.
What should our readers know about your business?
UGC Notary actually started off as MPIC years ago. With MPIC I would do remolding and painting interior and exteriors of commercial and residential properties. One day I was involved in a seven car pile up that changed my life. I was unable to work, went through physical therapy. During that hard time in my life I fell into a depression, I enjoyed painting and remodeling; watching a project come together. Once I was able to work again I couldn’t with stand the labor the way I could before. I had to let go of the labor part of my business. At that time UGC Notary was born. The purpose of UGC was for me to focus on the non labor part of my skills. As a Notary Signing Agent I complete notarizations two ways for the state of Texas. I am able to notarize documents in person “mobile” or Online. I’m also an Ordained Minister allowing me to Officiate Weddings Nationwide. I have available 30 plus Wedding Scripts for happy Couples to choose from. I will even help the couple customize their own special sermon. I even include a Special Gift for the Special Occasion. I enjoy operating UGC. I enjoy meeting new people, making new connections. Most of all I love love.
Maintaining a business is never easy. UGC Notary remains conscious of everyone time. We understand that time is the most valuable commodity we have. Some may even argue it is the only true commodity we have. With that being said when time is abused and not utilized properly its hard to make anything possible. In the world of entrepreneurs time management is number one. All it takes is for one thing to go wrong or take to long and everything is off for that day. All we can do is keep going because it is only so much we can control. Other people and external circumstances are some of the things we can not control. I have learned that the main thing that keeps business going no matter how many uncontrollable variables come our way is communication. Communication is key.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would first like to shout out my mom, Eurener Harris. Growing up my mom raised all five of us alone. I like to think the my entrepreneurial spirit started with her. As a child my mom owned her own salon. She would work day and night to make everything possible for my siblings and I. Therefore it is no surprise that all of my siblings are entrepreneurs themselves. I would also like to thank my love, Takiyah Glenn. She is a constant inspiration to me, always praising me even when I doubt myself. She is also an entrepreneur. She is an impeccable stylist that has been in her field for over 20 years. She constantly reminds me of my potential. She keeps me focused and creative. We have the same passions for the arts. We are both vocalist with a drive to be our greatest selves. She is my peace. A few books I must recognize as an influence in my life are “Mindset by Carol S. Dweck “, “The Art Of The Start by Guy Kawasaki”, “The Secret by Rhonda Byrne”, The Magic of Thinking Big by David J Schwartz” & The Spirit Of A Man by Iyanla Vanzan”.
