Meet Maisha Lacy | Owner of Vibrant (detox) Water

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maisha Lacy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business like many other small businesses formed during the height of the Covid Virus. Like many others, I was laid off from my job of almost 10 years and quarantined due to the virus. During this time so many of us were gaining weight because we simply had nothing to do but eat and sleep. I’ve always tried to be conscious regarding my health and weight and being a vegetarian I wanted to be mindful of the things I put into my body especially during a time that was so easy to just binge eat out of boredom. I’ve always incorporated lemon in my drinking water because drinking lemon water helps you drink less sugar-sweetened beverages, keep you hydrated, and increase your intake of antioxidants and vitamin C, and also aids in weightless (if substituting for sugary drinks). One day upon making my lemon water drink, I had a thought. I wondered, “what if I incorporated OTHER fruits, vegetable’s, and herbs into my drinking water?” I wondered if this newer way of drinking water would have more heathier benefits by incorporating more heathier ingredients. Thus begin my solution for a great tasting, naturally sweet water that could improve the way water taste NATURALLY, aid in weightless, and have different health benefits all with the use of only organic ingredients.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Vibrant Water has been in business since Sept. 2020. I started off slow because I had to do research and gather all useful information I could to be sure my product(s) were legit and that I stood out from any competitors now or in the future. What sets me apart from others is my willingness to adapt to change in the industry and to continuously update my product(s) and packaging to fit the growing market and industry. I am most proud of my “packs” of Vibrant Water, which allows the consumer to purchase 4 different varieties of Vibrant Water in your choice of 3 different sizes. I am also proud and excited for the new additions of products and varieties coming soon. Creating a all natural detox water has not been easy. I’ve changed my packaging, logo and product several times to achieve what I consider to be “The Best Detox Water in the South”. The way that I have overcome the challenges that I was faced with in the beginning was simply trial and error. I tweaked my ratio for my ingredients, I changed my logo to something that better represents what my products stand for, and I changed the way I package my products for a healthier shelf life as well as presentation. Although I did these things there are ALWAYS other challenges that come up and I’m constantly doing what I can to make improvements to ensure I’m better than my competitors. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to be patient. Rome was not built in a day. I have spurts of busy, busy, busy seasons, but I also have moments where I’m not so busy so I use this time for marketing and promoting and coming up with new BETTER ways to engage my customers and give them what I THINK they want in a newer product. I want the world to know that Vibrant (detox) Water is a great tasting, healthy, organic, all natural, alkaline based water created for EVERYONE for the purpose of detoxing (abstain from or rid the body of toxic or unhealthy substances) for a heathier way of life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take them to several of my favorite Vegan restaurants. Spiral Dinner would be first. Spiral dinner has the greatest Vegan food, desserts, and drinks and although you’ll leave fully stuffed, you will not feel bad doing so. I’d also take my friend to Vegan Food House for awesome plant based burgers, Gloria’s Latin Cuisine for drinks, Pappadeaux for a variety of different seafood and great ambiance. During this visit we would also hang out in Deep Ellum and visit places such as the Twilight Lounge for that New Orleans atmosphere, music, and elegancy, and The Factory to enjoy live music from a variety of different artists.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my story to my children Chelsey Perry, Trayshunn Williams, and Adrianne Hopkins. They are the inspiration to Vibrant Water and the number one reason It was created. Vibrant Water is an all natural, alkaline based, fruit, vegetable and herb infused detox water made for EVERYONE including kids.
