We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Pivonka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice I disagree with is to start when you’re ready. I think I would have missed out on a lot of opportunities had I waited until I felt “ready”. I think life has a way of leading us to the people and things that are meant for us, so if you have an idea or an urge to do something, do it now. There is no time like the present, and you already have everything you need inside yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a professional dancer, which means growing up in an environment filled with opportunities to be active. I have always loved moving my body, and thanks to my parents I was encouraged to support my mental and physical well-being with a healthy diet. Because of that knowledge, I have found a love for cooking and food in general. I think food is fuel and a way for different people and cultures to come together. Through my page, I hope to inspire others to find a diet that makes them feel good so they can do what they love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always look for the best gluten-free dairy-free restaurants, because that is what I prefer, and I have found options for almost all the cuisine I desire. This has led to some of the most amazing pizza, ice cream, nourish bowls, smoothies, you name it! Areas like Dallas are filled with restaurants aiming to accommodate everyone. If there is a Van Leewan’s nearby…we are going!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout a few influencers such as Mallory Page, who inspired me to heal my relationship with food and exercise and be brave enough to share my journey on Pivonkasplate. It is much more than a food page thanks to those who gave me courage.
