We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well I began photography in high school, however, I didn’t ever foresee it becoming a business for me! When I started college somehow I began feeling like this was my calling. I started doing more college grads, and then slowly transitioned into weddings! Becoming a business really just became reality as I got to pour my heart into the thing I was most passionate about.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a wedding and elopement photographer based in DFW!
I think I’m most proud of the growth I’ve seen in my own creativity throughout my business growing. I get to celebrate some of life’s most special moments with couples who almost always become friends. I love doing life with people, and that has to be one of the BEST aspects of my work.
Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy. It’s taken dedication, hard work, and patience. Overcoming the challenges that come honestly is doable simply because of the love I have for photography and for people. It means more than any hardship,
I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is to stay true to who I am, but always being willing to grow and adapt.
If I could share what I see myself and my brand as, I would say passionate. I’m passionate about my work, but also equally as passionate about people. I love making connections through my work with the people I get to celebrate.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Hotel Drover in the stockyards! There’s plenty of fun things to do just around the corner, but you can also get to a few different areas super quickly. I’d recommend brunch at Mash’d, dinner at Del Frisco’s, and drinks at Second Rodeo.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
SO many people, but especially Lacey with Flatland Photo. She took me under her wing and mentored me. She’s since become someone I can look up to in life, my business, and as a best friend. She is insanely talented, and I’m so thankful for her!
