Meet “MAC-B” | CEO/Creative Director of T.N.S.C.

We had the good fortune of connecting with “MAC-B” and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi “MAC-B”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
What causes people to live a stagnated life? What causes people to give up on their dreams? What is the reason for the people dragging others into misery that they themselves disdain. These where questions that have been in my mind since I was a youth. Being born and raised in Durhma, NC, and seeing how many members of my community conducted themselves brought about these questions and caused me to search for a solution for each one. My first year at Howard University my professor Eric Ruffin gave me a quote from the behavioral scientist Dr. Francis Cress-Welsing; “He or she who controls the images projected to the masses controls their self esteem.” I deduced a lot of potential answers that I thought would answer those questions I’d held onto for so long to a simple answer; If I can change what the people in my community see and listen to then I can change all of the negative carrying ons I’ve seen in my people/community. So I created T.N.S.C. (The Native Stone Company) a multimedia company whose goal is to cater to the diaspora by producing content that provides an alternative to the music and cinematography that negatively effects our society.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Here at The Native Stone Company LLC we’ve created and cultivated a genre of music called “Western Funk” a blend between westerns, funk, r&b, and jazz. My mother was my music teacher growing up so I’ve always had a passion for music. However I made the decision to pursue acting and eventually film prior to taking a more serious approach to music. By no means has the journey been easy; getting in the industry is simple, make art, release it to the public. Staying in this industry is however the challenge. You’ve got to play the game, it’s the entertainment “business” for a reason. And the list of need to knows is too long to type for one article. Thus far I’m still here by my own volition, knowing that I wake up and choose to do this everyday because I am confident in the change I can make.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first placed I visited when I moved to Dallas was Deep Ellum. So that’s definitely top 5 areas we’d explore. I’ve worked at a lot of establishments there and even lived in the neighborhood when I’d officially made Dallas home. However I’d also like them to see the vibrance of uptown, with it’s greenery and plethora of eateries. Also there is a more mature crowd in that area on the weekends. Third; Lower Greenville, it’s vibe is melo and artistic, in a lot of ways it’s like a mix between soho neighborhood and New York and Adams Morgan neighborhood in DC. And those are two of my favorite places thus far. Nightlife I’d tell them to hit up Mila, Vice Park, Greenlight Social, Kanvas, Kitchen and Kocktails, STK, and any Velvet Taco.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a special shout to my friends from Dallas who are more of family. They’ve embraced my ideas, been there for me in times of need, and provided insight on how I could navigate and be a success in this beautiful city. Furthermore I’d like to give a special shoutout to the entire cast and crew of D.C. Noir Movie. Without that amazing group of people I would not have had the opportunities that I’ve had and it’s more than possible that I would not have yet founded The Native Stone Company LLC. To John Dickson aka “Rosebudd” and SWU, for helping me to become more of the man that I am supposed to be and taking the world by storm without out any regrets. Lastly I’d like to take time to show appreciation to Earl Nightingale for authoring “The Strangest Secret” and for radio hosting “SkyKing Radio”, for without them I’d have not been able to shift my mind to the pedigree for progress that I have now.
