We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucius Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucius, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Towards the end of 2017 going into 2018, I was working at a plant called Madix located in a small town called Eclectic, AL. While working there, my friend Rodney informed me about an organization called “Amway”. While working with them, I was awakened about what was really going on in the world with jobs and the unfairness that came with them. It opened my mind about me actually working for myself as well. Throughout my life, I never thought about working for myself. I always knew that I wanted a lot of money, but I never thought about becoming an entrepreneur to get it! Instead of me actually working for Amway, I took the knowledge that they gave me and started my own business. The thought of me actually picking up a camera came about one day while I was walking down the assembly line at work. As I was pulling hooks off of the line, a thought came into my head and it said, “you should do photography!”. I really felt like God was talking to me at that moment because I actually took that thought into consideration comfortably. Later on that day, I ordered a photography book from Amazon. I started reading at least 20 pages a day, so that I could go ahead and purchase my camera. After finishing the book, which was in February, I purchased my first camera… The CANON EOS REBEL t6i. I used my whole income tax check just to get it. It left me broke, but I knew that God was going to make a way for me, so I really didn’t worry. From February-November of 2018, I was doing photoshoots for $40 just to have some type of income since I had quit my job. Around November of 2018, I got into videography. I got into it because I knew that it would make me more money than photography. I started off charging close to nothing for music videos just to build my portfolio until I got better with my craft. In 2019, I shot a 100 music videos within just a year of doing it. In 2020, I shot 200 music videos. This year I’m aiming to shoot anywhere between 300-600. It’s like every year I jump up an extra 100 videos. I owe it all to God for the blessings that he has been placing in my life over the past 3 years with my business. This year, I’m aiming to shoot bigger artists, as well as getting more industrial equipment to make my visuals 10x better than what they are!Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Creative Director and Editor. My editing style where I’m from is different than other editors. That’s what really separates me from everyone else. I got where I am today in my profession because I always keep God first and by always finding ways I can get better each day. The biggest challenge I’ve faced as a as a videographer was self-doubt. Once I truly started to believe in myself, everything started to fall in place. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned along my journey is to KNOW YOUR WORTH! Don’t downgrade your self-confidence, self-worth, or talents for anyone in life whether it is business or personal. In the end, I want the world to know who DineroTheShoota is, where I come from and most importantly what I stand for. I want to be motivation to the people who don’t believe in themselves to show them that anything is possible to achieve. I just want to motivate others honestly to do better in life. I feel like everyone deserves to be great… but it all starts with you!Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In my city, Wetumpka, there isn’t much to do but I’ve always made the best of what I’ve had. I definitely would stop by my favorite wing spot “Coaches Corners” to try their mild lemon pepper wings, and have a few drinks while catching upShoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God, my mother, & my bros played a big part in my success. During my hard times & doubts, they’ve always stuck my by my side & motivated me to keep going. I would also like to thank my girlfriend for helping my run my business successfully, staying up late nights to listen to my ideas, and always pushing me to go harder. I Love You and am so thankful to have you. Thank you all.
