We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucas Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucas, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
the amount of time and hard work spent behind the scenes working on projects piecing things together, whether its putting together shows or EPs and how constant you have to work at it and keep up with things to try to make it work out.

Alright, so can tell us a bit more about your work? What sets you apart from the others?
uhh man, i mean id love to say my art is original but unfortunately i find it very derivative haha, i mean i just try to make music that i like and hope other people will like it too ((: im definitely most proud of my melodic tunes im working on or have released like the collab with Finnuh (Domain Expansion) and im super excited for my upcoming releases in general, ive been working hard to try to curate a new sound and push towards making my original songs and mixing them myself now. i guess i got where i am today by just working on music and putting together mixes and trying to make friends with people in the scene and eventually promoters just started booking me for local slots, i wouldnt say im successful in my music career so far by any means but im proud of how hard ive worked to make it how far i have today ((: i say the lessons ive learned is that i shouldnt take everything to heart, the dubstep scene can be kind of harsh and i suffer from mentalillness so finding balance in my life has always been hard but the extra amount of stress the music scene can cause for me is sometimes a little to much unfortunately but my friends and therapist help me get through it and cope with things fairly well. what do i want ppl to know abt me or us at Misphitz? we simply just love riddim and tearout and hope to bring you guys the dopest tunes we can find ((;

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
aww man thats kind of hard im a very introverted person and a huge homebody haha, uhh i guess wed have to hit Chris and John and a bunch of dope taco places, probably hit some local shows at the Green Elephant, definitely hit the local skateparks for sure, we got some sick museums as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
