We had the good fortune of connecting with Luba Abdrazakova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luba, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Starting a business is not easy, but running a successful one it’s hard work. Being book smart is equally important as being street smart. You need to establish your presence and consistency is a key in this process. If you are running a business and not a hobby, you need to invest in business to see the results, and it might take years before it pays off. My recommendation is to prioritize and set achievable goals. It’s easy to get discouraged and give up especially if you don’t see return on your investment. Thats why you need to be strategic about building your business. For example, when we formed THE DECOROOM, we did website, branding, all marketing materials, social media, advertising ourselves. Few years later we hired a team of professionals to do our rebranding, because it took time to define our design direction, target audience and establish long term goals for the company. Quitting is never an option if you want to achieve something, sometimes you need to take a step back, reevaluate, make adjustments and move forward.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
THE DECOROOM Interior Design, founded in 2021 in Dallas TX, is a full service interior design company specializing in residential interiors. Our design direction and value proposition are the cornerstones of the business model. Our approach is “less is more” and we provide our clients with a unique opportunity to see the spaces come to life before construction or interior project begins.

I believe teamwork makes the dream work. Our team’s background in architecture, business and interior design along with experience working with European, Canadian and US markets led to defining our design direction – it can be described as modern minimalist with focus on quality craftsmanship, European techniques, materials and standards. Aesthetic of our designs seeks to balance simplicity, clean lines, monochromatic neutral color palette with functionality and comfort.
We are in the business not only to create aesthetically pleasing spaces. Our mission is to focus on an essence of a human-centered design: by creating ergonomic, comfortable and functional spaces to promote not only physical comfort but also emotional and mental well-being.

No business comes with a manual, and like any business we faced multiple challenges along the way. Most important lesson we learned is no matter how hard it can be, stay consistent and do not give up. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. In life it’s all about decisions, and business is not an exception.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When choosing places to go or stay at we always on the lookout for places with unique and beautiful interiors. When it comes to restaurants, there are many authentic hole in the wall joints that are worth visiting. When we travel, we love visiting DDD restaurants and experience for ourselves and Dallas TX is not an exception.

We would definitely take out friends for breakfast at Berries and Batter, Hard Eight BBQ, Mio Nonno for some Italian food, Mi Dia for some duck tacos, visit Fort Worth Stockyards and Dallas Arboretum, afternoon tea at Leonie, some fun at the Fireside Surf, cocktails at Ginger’s, brunch at RH Rooftop, dinner at Hugo’s Lost Colony and Dallas Mi Cocina.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe surrounding yourself with the right people changes everything. People who know your struggles, people who can give you words of encouragements and not afraid to tell the hard truth. My father is my biggest fan. Anything I have done, currently doing or planning to do – I always have his full support and unconditional love. His entrepreneurial spirit, ability to take risks, all or nothing attitude taught me that world is your oyster and there is nothing impossible if you put your mind and effort into it. I do also believe people you meet in life are for a reason. And I am blessed with family and close friends who are standing beside me through thick and thin
