We had the good fortune of connecting with Lonice Stoker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lonice, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
The honest truth about work like balance especially being a full time entrepreneur is there is actually not a balance. It is about what you prioritize at the moment and that can change daily. I prioritize my health, my family, then my business. Now, it took me some time to figure that part out because at the beginning stages of my business I worked and hustled no matter the time of day. I would get clients in up until midnight. Then I had to set boundaries and because I have built such a strong relationship with my clients and have gotten so many results with thousands of clients around the world, people will book as long as I allow and I am extremely grateful for that but I was missing out on so many important moments with my daughter, missing friends birthdays, and so much more. I was gaining weight and didn’t realize it because all I did was work on my business. So now, I prioritize all the things that are most important to me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Laced by Lonice Spa & Boutique is an oasis where business professionals and entrepreneurs come to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday tasks and reset while receiving luxury spa treatments. What sets us apart is we make you feel welcomed and valued from the moment you step foot into our spa, from the greeting, the aroma, your robe, plush bedding, and the luxury treatments we offer using premium quality products.
It was not and still is not easy, however learning along the way from the mistakes getting systems in place, hiring the best person for the tasks, delegating was so hard but so necessary to scale my business even more. Before hiring a team I would be booked 6 months out, so I was capped at the amount of clients I could take. So I had to duplicate my practices and trust that others could do the same. That was extremely important to the success and yes people have come and gone, but it’s the evolution of business. Always hiring and keep building relationships. Challenges faced, unfortunately was Estheticians stealing products, contacting clients on the side, seeing clients behind my back, offering cheaper prices, the list goes on. I sit here and can laugh about it now because as I embark on my 10th year in business I know that it has been alot but I am still standing and still win! I have trained over 200 Estheticians and helped them scale their Businesses. I offer and Apprenticeship for new Estheticians to learn how to run the spa business, and I have my very own SPF 50 called Laced Skin Hydrating Sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid that melts into the skin no matter the skin tone!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being born and raised from Oak Cliff we have to start with breakfast at Breakfast Brothers on Camp Wisdom, a workout at Ment Fitness because health is wealth, visit Bishop Arts for some local boutiques and dessert, book an Experience at Jefri Spencer to create our a signature body oil that she would remember her visit to Dallas. we will definitely have to find a Sunday Funday as Dallas has so many versions of what a Sunday Funday looks like in Dallas, then head to Legacy West for luxury shopping and dinner, because I’m a Spa Owner, self care, I would take her World Springs!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this to The Dallas Chapter Spa Boss Tribe, serving as the President in the only black spa community there are so many spa owners that are successful, changing lives, and making the sacrifices for their businesses on the daily basis and I love to see it! My Spa Mentor Candace Holyfield-Parker who created the Spa Boss Tribe for awarding and seeing the Black Spa Professional has been pivotal in our community and we would not recognized if it wasn’t for her. I also want to give thanks to my daughter and husband for always supporting me and being understanding to my unpredictable schedule and helping me make my dreams a reality! I love them so much!
