Meet Lola Dominguez | Founder of Domivis Swim

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lola Dominguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lola, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
One of my favorite compliments is actually being called a risk taker. To me, that says, “Damn, she’s confident and resilient. She’s a go-getter who really believes in herself and the higher good.”
I’ve always believed in high risk, high reward. Without that mindset, my brand wouldn’t exist. Taking risks (calculated ones, of course) has been the foundation of my journey. When I started in the fashion industry, I had no formal fashion training, no experience, or connections in the industry. I had nothing but a vision and the guts to go for it. That leap of faith was the best decision I could’ve made.
As a fashion designer, I have to be open to risks because every new product, collection, or drop is a gamble—fashion is so subjective, and there’s always that moment of uncertainty before you see how people respond. But that’s also what makes it so much more rewarding when it’s a success.
Overall, I genuinely enjoy taking risks because they push me to grow, experiment, and strengthen my faith. Some of my biggest wins have come from just going for it, and even when things don’t work out, the lessons I take from it fuel my creativity and make me better.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Domivis is really just an extension of me—my style, my personality, and things I love about being a woman. I wanted to create a brand that embodies confidence, fun, relatable femininity, and a healthy lifestyle. Domivis is for people who want to feel sexy, playful, feminine, and like the main character in their own lives. I also wanted to create functional products, which is why I decided to specialize in reversible, multi-way tie sets that provide like 12+ looks in one.
Even after doing runway shows during NYFW and Miami Art Basel, I’m most proud of the internship program I started. This is my third semester running it, and I’ve hosted fashion and marketing students from some of the most amazing schools, like Parsons, LIM, Boston College, and the University of Tampa. I love being able to mentor, teach, and inspire, but honestly, I also learn so much from them. They help keep me creative, accountable, and tapped into what’s next.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. I completely self-funded my business, which meant a lot of debt, trial and error. Without prior design experience, I wasted lots of time and money on product development, and working with 3 manufacturers in 3 different countries before finding the right team while also struggling to define my own brand identity. At times, it felt like an identity crisis because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to create or what message I wanted to put into the world. And on top of that, I had to battle imposter syndrome, because I had no fashion degree, no industry experience, just a vision and the willingness to figure it out.
Through all of it, I’ve learned that clarity comes from action, not overthinking. You don’t need all the answers to start—evolution is part of the process. And honestly, imposter syndrome is just noise. No one is truly “qualified” for something until they actually do it.
At the end of the day, I want the world to see Domivis as a brand that’s fun, cool, and effortlessly aspirational—a place of escapism, girlhood, and joy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I moved to Tampa, FL a few years ago and there’s a lot I miss about home, but it’s mostly the food. If I were to plan a trip back home, it would definitely be for a food tour, starting with the state fair. It’s the culture, food, vibes, and the true representation of everything’s bigger in Texas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my entire team—the people who make this journey possible. My amazing and supportive husband, who’s been my rock through it all. My hardworking interns, who bring fresh energy and creativity every day. My business mentor, John, whose guidance has been invaluable. And my friend Nicolet, who gave me my very first insights into the fashion industry and helped me take those first steps. I wouldn’t be where I am without them!
