We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Wong-Rosales and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For the past 20 years I have been so fortunate to be a part of my family’s restaurant business. An establishment that has been in my home town for the last 47 years. When the pandemic made its way to the states back in March, just like everyone else in this world, our routine was replaced with panic and a lost sense of stability. But during our time in quarantine, I had the luxury of spending time with my loved ones outside of work. It was in these moments that I was able to finally take a break, breathe, and reflect. From that point on I decided it was time to reset my outlook on an unforeseen future. One that will be more positive, patient, and above all full of gratitude. As days continued on indoors I began to wonder, what could I do for myself and for others in my community to feel less hopeless and more hopeful? As I searched for articles to motivate and guide me in the right direction. I came across this quote, “The more grateful I am the more beauty I see. -Mary Davis. Soon after that flowers quickly floated into my mind. Beautiful blooms created to elevate any day. So with this objective in mind, I turned to my sister, Jeanie for help and support. And together we began to focus on my vision. So, on Mother’s Day weekend I assembled 30 bouquets that were carried to the doors of friends and acquaintances. Attached to the floral wrap was a card with Mary Davis’s quote along with the name of my new business venture. WRŌS+CO has made its official debut and it’s message has been delivered.

Starting a floral business during pandemic was quite challenging and expected. So I eventually branched out to create my signature butter bars. After the birth of my daughter, I was cautious in choosing products that are non-toxic. For me, being a mother I always put my child and the care of my family first. But as women we really need to take more time, effort, and thought into our daily self-care routine, because we are absolutely worth it. When it’s comes to moisturizing our skin I decided to create a non-toxic product that is safe for everyone to use. These solid moisturizers are made with 5 natural ingredients, vegan friendly, and is scented with 100% pure essential oils. No pumps or plastic usage whatsoever. Believe it or not I actually started experimenting with the idea of the bars last December pre-covid. The lotion that I had used for years was no longer helping my skin. So I decided to try a body oil instead. And although it did its job in nourishing my skin, I did not like the mess it created afterwards. The uncontrollable oil running through your fingertips, the greasiness it left on the plastic container in which it was held, was a nuisance. So I decided to experiment and attempted to create a formula for a solid lotion bar using all natural ingredients. And after much trial and error, 50 plus bars tossed out, the urge of wanting to give up, I finally got it. I was finally please with my end result. After a few months of being in the floral business, dealing with my over-sanitized hands and cooler weather ahead, it was the perfect time to release the solid moisturizer. So in September we launched our WRŌS+CO Butter Bar Collection. The response has been overwhelming in the best way. I am so grateful to be able to create floral bouquets to uplift someones spirit as well as crafting a product that is beneficial and nourishing for our bodies.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My family and I are based in Oklahoma. However when we do visit Dallas we absolutely love Rise No. 1! We always recommend friends and family to go there for their dining experience in that city. It’s old-world romantic parisian charm is so wonderfully executed while the food and service is always amazing and never disappoints.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister Jeanie has always been a person who has the ability to elevate everyone no matter what the environment. Her love and support has helped guide me to wake up each day to be kinder, be better, do better in every aspect of my life.
