We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Luckett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, what principle do you value most?
Honesty. I believe honesty is at the root of everything. From honesty comes trust. From trust comes credibility. One of the most valuable assets in business (and personal lives) is our credibility. Credibility is the bridge that allows us to do business with those we may not like but we can trust. Foundational honesty allows us to build valuable relationships at all levels both personally and professionally.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art would be crafting. My favorite craft would be business. I am a free-thinking outlier who has never fit in the box. I didn’t understand that until my husband was dramatically killed in the North Tower of the World Trade Center when I was 41 and all hell broke loose. What am I most proud of? That I finally trusted myself–that I listened to my inner-knowing. Because of the catalyst of 9/11 and Teddy’s death, I stopped worrying about what other people thought. Because I couldn’t let Ted and all the others die in vain, I took myself to the analyst’s couch to figure out the ‘why’ of everything. I studied my relationship, experiences and the events in my life from micro to macro, personal to cultural, local to global. This took me on a journey of self-discovery that me to discover incredible wisdom, full, spiritual enlightenment and a chance to free my children from generations of alcoholism and family dysfunction. Today I see things from a different perspective and serve as a voice of reason in the chaos. From the analytic experience (a long story and why there’s a book) came Cozmeena Enlightened Living, A brand of Kindness. Cozmeena was built on the foundational elements of warmth, comfort, care, consideration, grace and decency. It’s about finding comfort through your five senses, navigating life through your sixth sense (intuition), and aligning with like-minded thinkers to make the world a better place. Easy? Difficult? It has been both. While my professional journey has taken me down a variety of different paths, any obstacle or challenge has created something to study as I am always learning. There is no failure, only redirection, only opportunity to shift and learn. I am always charmed and fascinated as I watch everything unfold in perfect divine order. As an author, speaker and professional coach, I encourage others to join me in this fascinating struggle we call life to understand their lives and find happiness on their journey to self-awareness. There is simply nothing more interesting than studying your life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have only been to Dallas a handful of times in the past 30 years but each time has been wonderful. I still think about the Tex-Mex place where we had dinner in 1988. The positivity of the Dallas energy is big and bold and beautiful. The sky is the limit. Dallas always has the vibe that anything is possible.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is for all of the people who have supported me, taught me, and joined in the mission of Cozmeena Enlightened Living– A Brand of Kindness — sharing, caring, and helping to make the world a better place.
