We had the good fortune of connecting with Lira Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lira, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process of starting my own business was the freedom that comes with it. The recognition that I can actually do this. Instead of holding my ideas and thoughts to myself, I can actually spread it across the world. Of course there is hard work that goes into it, but in the end, you believed in yourself, and that all that matters.

What should our readers know about your business?
So, 4 years ago, I started a Yard Greeting company named Lyras Love Letters LLC. I wanted to spread love among all races for one another. The point of this company is doing something special, something different for someone you love. There is so much hate, separation, racism, etc. – that we forget how to show love and appreciate one another, so starting up this business helps you leave a special greeting in a loved one’s yard, like a simple ”Thank You” or a ”Happy Birthday”. Our moto on the logo is ” For someone you love”. I also have a second company I opened 2 years ago named Lyras Love Letters Productions. It’s a production company that produces banners, corrugated signs, yard greeting letters, themes, aluminum signs and much more. You can print your logo or political on the banners or corrugated plastic, we do custom work. This really helps with any type of business, small or large. We ship all over the U.S. and Canada.
How I got to where I am today, is being persistent. Never giving up, even when people talk bad about you. If I had gave up when people said ”those are just letters”, ”they are easy- anyone can do that”, ”get a real job”, etc., then I wouldn’t be where I am at today. Was it easy, absolutely not, I even second guessed myself and thought I was being irrational, there were times when I had fallbacks and wanted to give up, but I’m glad I didn’t. Now I am working on a Multi-Million dollar company and I could not be any happier. What I want the world to know about my company, is that life is not promised tomorrow, make someone smile today, you have no idea what that person is going through, and if we all showed a little act of love, no matter the race, this world would be a lot less angry. We are all about spreading the love across the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Houston ,Texas. My favorite spot in the city is the Waterwall, it is very romantic but also full of life. It reminds me how small you are in this big o world because I’m just a small-town girl living in this big o world. I also love Japaneiro’s in Sugarland, Tx. When I had a bad day and need to unwind, sushi is the spot!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my dad, may he rest in peace, he was an entrepreneur, I’ve learned a lot from him on how to own a business, what losses and gains come from it. Before he became an entrepreneur, we were migrant workers, we would travel to different states and cities to work in the fields, during summertime. However, we resided in a small town called Needville, Tx since I was a baby. We didn’t have much, but we had each other. I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers, so we were definitely put to work. Even after school, we had to pluck chickens, pick pecans, pick cucumbers, and prepare deer’s for meat processing. So, I was very busy! I also want to give a shout out to my mom and my significant other Logan. They keep me going when times get tough.
