Meet Lindsey Kooyman: Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Kooyman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, what makes you happy? Why?
Besides creating artwork, there are several contributing factors: my family, friends, their happiness and surrounding myself with authentic people who have my best interest. My baselines happiness comes from the life I am building for myself and remaining true to who I am and what it is that I want. Because life is too short for anything less. Sometime’s it’s the simple things as well…like strong coffee and a good thunderstorm. 🙂
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Pet portraits keep me the busiest. When I’m not painting a commission for a client, I am working on other pieces to keep my inventory up. I usually have a couple commissions and 2 or 3 side paintings going on at the same time and I really enjoy it that way!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oooo…a walk in Dallas Farmers’ Market or maybe around Klyde Warren Park. Visit the Dallas Arboretum (especially if it’s Spring or around the Holidays!), Blue Fish sushi (YUM) or grab a cocktail at a little gem in east Dallas called “Here Lounge”. See what bands are playing or just explore and see where the day takes us.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am without friends, family, my parents and personal heroes. All of them have had crucial roles in my life and I couldn’t be more thankful. This particular shoutout I would like to give to Mary though, who is like a second mom to me. She always believes in me, helps me and tells me like it is. I think everyone needs a person like her in their life.
