Meet Lindsay & Kurt Rumold | PharmD & Cofounders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay & Kurt Rumold and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsay & Kurt, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Determination: How you face challenges will greatly affect how your life will progress. Neither of us have a back ground in startups or running a business. Every step we had to learn ourselves. We had to bring our mental images of our product and how it would function to life. We found engineers to help create the base model for our idea, then researched manufacturers that could create our products. We researched photography and created product photos. We taught ourselves how to build a website, install apps, create bundles and how to use Shopify. Social media accounts and marketing is run solely by the two of us. From start to finish we have built this brand by ourselves and the success that we have had is from the determination that both of us have. We continue to push forward and persevere no matter what challenges or road blocks are put in our way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We both have gone through extensive schooling, 18 years of collegian education, both of us having our Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees, in addition Kurt has his MBA in Health Administration and Lindsay competed a year of Residency after receiving her Doctorate degree and is board certified. These years of education were very challenging and rewarding. We have created very successful careers that have allowed us to provide for our family and we both currently work full time. Kurt as the Director of Pharmacy at a rehabilitation hospital and Lindsay as a clinical pharmacist in the hospital on the oncology floor. We founded Peels Mats and created the brand while working full time and raising two girls (Breck – 6, Aspen – 5). We worked late nights and weekends to get Peels off the ground and continue to run the company by ourselves. We are learning new things everyday about running a business such as marketing and working with retailers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Take a walk/run on the Katy trail.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I (Lindsay) think that the person that deserves a LOT of credit for our success is Kurt! He is the one that throughout this whole adventure continues to be the one that figures it out and gets the job done. I was skeptical to create a product because there were so many unknowns but he jumped in and did research and got us started. No matter if it is about the manufacturing, finances, marketing or selling Kurt has come through for us! He deserves the biggest shoutout!
Our family and close friends have also been so supportive and deserve a shoutout! They have let us use their homes for photographs, purchased mats, shared Peels with other people and worn hats and shirts to spread the word! Our designs for the Peels Mats are all named after people that have loved, supported or influenced us throughout our lives. It’s our small way of lifting them up and saying thanks!
