We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Crutcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For the Love of Zero became a dream of mine when I started on my own journey of trying to bring better products into my own home that were both good for me and the environment. I quickly realized that many big cities have awesome refill stores that bring these options to their community, and as amazing as Fort Worth is it didn’t have this option. Therefore, I set out on a journey to bring this option to our community. My biggest dream is to open a refill shop in the near future, but for now I do pop-ups around Fort Worth where I offer refill options on counter cleaner, hand soap, dish soap, and laundry detergent as well as my handmade toilet cleaning bombs and other zero waste switches for the home.

What should our readers know about your business?

For the Love of Zero is unique because it encourages you to be thoughtful of your purchases as a consumer and think, not only about how your purchase serves you, but how it serves planet Earth and the future. Everything sold by For the Love of Zero is either compostable or able to be recycled. We encourage our patrons to use up-cycled bottles and containers they already have to fill with our products, but if they need a bottle we have many that we have up-cycled & sanitized ourself that can be purchased. We hope that our story and our brand can make our community feel empowered to make positive changes for themselves and the environment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If I had a friend come into town we would spend our Friday night at Mariachis Dine-in,where they serve both delicious vegan and non vegan food, followed by drinks at Smokestack 1948. Smokestack has a seasonal menu packed with great craft cocktails and a great atmosphere.

Saturday would consist of grabbing coffee from Love Local Coffee & Art on our way to Lola’s Farmers market where we could spend the day enjoying shopping, BBQ, drinks & live music. Lola’s farmers market has great vibes and offers a little taste of everything that is good about Fort Worth. You will find anything from local grown produce, vintage clothing, floral arrangements, and you might even find a pop-up from a little zero waste shop that you have heard of.

Saturday evening we would enjoying dinner at a Fort Worth classic, The Bearded Lady, then unwind with a cup of tea from Leaves or soak in the nostalgia of Nickel City with a night cap.

Sundays are made for sleeping in followed by an afternoon spent at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Watching the butterfly’s and bees buzz through the garden has a way of reminding you to slow down. That, mixed with the tranquility of the Japanese gardens always leaves me feeling a bit lighter once I leave.

We would conclude this weekend with a home cooked meal, some games and s’mores by the fire pit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

For the Love of Zero would be impossible without the love and support of my friends and family. My biggest supporter is my husband, Matt, he is steadfast and kind and literally tells everyone he meets about my small buisness mission. He quite literally helps me carry the load that starting a small business entails and does it all with a smile. On any given weekend you may find Matt or my sister, Shelby, helping out behind the For the Love of Zero table. These two, along with my amazing friends deserve all the credit for getting me to where I am…there hasn’t been a moment since I started this journey that I haven’t felt supported. Thank you guys. I love each and every one of y’all.
