We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesly Rosalia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lesly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be an entrepreneur—I just knew I never wanted to work under someone else’s rules forever. I was passionate about beauty, art, and storytelling, and lashes became the medium that brought all three together for me. I started Black Market Lash because I saw a gap in the industry: so many artists with talent but no guidance. I didn’t want to just do lashes—I wanted to build something. Something that made people feel powerful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art lives at the intersection of beauty and identity. What sets my work apart isn’t just the lash sets—it’s the intention behind them. Every look I create is customized, emotionally driven, and rooted in storytelling. I’m not here to copy trends; I’m here to design moments that make people feel like them again.

I’m most proud of building Black Market Lash from the ground up without a blueprint. It wasn’t easy. I moved to a new country, taught myself the industry, and had to figure out branding, technique, and business—while working multiple jobs. What kept me going was vision. I knew this wasn’t just about lashes—it was about freedom.

I’ve learned that evolving as an artist requires you to be vulnerable, to keep learning, and to show up even when you’re not sure how it’ll all work out. I want the world to know that my brand is for the artists, the dreamers, and the ones who feel like outsiders—I made space for us, and now I help others do the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Dallas for the week, I’d want them to really experience what I love most about this city—creative energy, good food, and beautiful views. I live in Downtown, so I’d start by showing them the city from my perspective—morning walks, skyline views, and late-night talks by the windows.

We’d spend a lot of time in Bishop Arts—my go-to area. The vibe there is unmatched. It’s filled with creatives, great shops, and local gems. I’d take them to Revelers Hall for live jazz and an espresso martini—there’s nothing like the energy of that place, especially on a good night.

Deep Ellum would be a must for a day of exploring murals, grabbing street tacos, an elote and maybe catching some live music. And at least one night would be reserved for a rooftop hangout—somewhere clean and chill with a perfect view, just to take it all in.

Dallas has so many sides, but I’d show them the ones that inspire me most—the spaces where art, connection, and a little chaos come together in the best way.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s no way I could talk about my growth without shouting out the women in my life who’ve poured into me—friends, clients, mentors, even strangers online who believed in me before I fully believed in myself. Special shoutout to my mom for her resilience, to my students for constantly inspiring me to show up, and to every creative who’s ever collaborated with me just off energy and trust. My journey is mine, but it’s also shaped by every connection that’s reminded me of my worth.
