Meet Lesly Cerrillo | Hair stylist/ hair specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesly Cerrillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lesly, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do was make the final decision to leave my part-time job. I was terrified—scared of what would come next, scared that I had made the wrong choice, and scared that I might fail in my business. But deep down, I knew if I didn’t take the leap now, I might never do it. I kept making excuses, even though I knew I was capable of going full-time in my business. Taking that step was one of the scariest but most empowering moments of my life. Now, I’m proud to say I have a fully booked schedule filled with both new and returning clients who truly value and love my work.
Leaving my part time job was more than just leaving a job—it was me finally recognizing how proud I am of myself for working two jobs for three years straight, all while still being 18.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others is the way I connect with my clients—like they’re my friends.
I naturally attract clients who are just like me: shy, quiet, and soft-spoken. Because I truly understand how that feels, I know how to gently bring them out of their shell. We end up having the most meaningful conversations—without judgment—while I give them the best haircut or color possible.
It took me a while to break out of my shell. In this industry, being shy and quiet can feel like a disadvantage. You’re expected to be outgoing and social to build strong client relationships. But growing my business pushed me to grow myself. I realized that in order to attract the right clients and provide the best experience, I had to open up—and in doing that, I’ve helped my clients do the same.
Now, I’ve learned how to balance being true to who I am while still creating a warm, fun, and welcoming space. I want everyone who sits in my chair to know: you’re welcome here, you’ll be heard, and you’ll leave with the best hair you’ve ever had.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friends came to visit me, the first place I’d take them would be Buffalo Bros—it’s my favorite spot to eat! Great food, good vibes, and the perfect way to kick things off.
After that, we’d head over to the Fort Worth Stockyards to hang out and explore. There’s a little bit of everything—watching horses and bulls walk through the streets, grabbing some delicious BBQ, and soaking in the Western charm.
We’d end the night with a drink at Billy Bob’s, because there’s no better way to wrap up a day in Texas!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest shoutout goes to myself.
As selfish as it might sound, I was the one who put in all the hard work over these past three years. If it wasn’t for my own dedication and drive, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I started right after graduating high school—with zero experience. I was working at Pixie Glam as an assistant from 9 AM to 3 PM, then heading straight to Sam’s Club from 4 PM to 9 PM. I did that every single day with no days off for three months straight.
After those first three months of assisting, I started taking my own clients—while still holding onto my part-time job. Fast forward to now: three years later, I have a fully booked schedule and have officially left my other job to pursue my business full-time!
This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the mentorship and guidance I received at Pixie Glam. A huge thank you to Deisy, Jojo, and Maribel—you taught me everything I know and helped shape me into the hairstylist I am today. I’m forever grateful.
