We had the good fortune of connecting with Le’Marqunita Lowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Le’Marqunita, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by entrepreneurs, creatives, and artists who don’t give up! I am always following this group of people because their personal journeys inspire me as an entrepreneur.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the CEO of Black & Cremè sustainable fashion boutique. Also, I am the CEO of Mercury III handmade vegan cosmetics. Black & Cremè is a sustainable fashion boutique. I am proud that Black & Cremè has opened a door for more inclusion in the sustainable fashion industry. Furthermore, Mercury III is a holistic company rooted in using cosmetics to heal the skin. I handmake all of the cosmetic formulas for Mercury III. Both of my businesses I bootstrapped with my teacher paycheck, and I am proud that I’ve been able to scale both businesses on my own terms. As a solo founder growing a business is never easy. I’ve had to learn how to define success for myself, utilize resources wisely, and protect my brand from things that didn’t align with my core ethics. I always took rejection as protection from God.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm, lol. I live in Palo Alto, California, which has beautiful natural landmarks in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would definitely take my friends to any parks in the Bay Area. I am a huge Nature person so anywhere with green and flowers is on my visit list. Next, it would definitely be a trip to local boutiques and Stanford Shopping Center. Stanford Shopping Center has amazing stores and vegan spots! I would take them to a spa, such as Watercourse Way in Palo Alto, to relax their chakras. Lastly, I would end the day at a movie theater in the Bay Area with recliner seats!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely have to give a shoutout to my close family. My ancestral hero is Malcolm X because he was fearless in bringing about social justice for the African American community. Related, “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” is a book that has shifted my life. As far as celebrities, I absolutely admire Beyoncé and Denzel Washington. Beyoncé is the perfect example of hard work ethic, creativity, and humbleness. Denzel Washington is the perfect example of consistency, genuine philanthropy, and talent.
