We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Kirkendoll and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leah, what do you attribute your success to?
Our success is grounded in treating each and every patient with a customized approach. We believe that each person is unique and requires a treatment plan that reflects that. Every patient we meet with deserves an experience that is catered to their individual needs, goals, budget and timeframe. So much of our business is about building a relationship and trust with our patients, and you can’t accomplish that with a cookie cutter approach.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a licensed aesthetician for over a decade with experience in aesthetic education, medical aesthetics, and spa therapy. My journey has been an eclectic one, taking me from holistic spa therapy to corrective medical treatments. The hardest thing about building my career was continuing my education and figuring out what set me apart from my competitors. I dedicated a lot of time to learning everything I could about skin, cosmetic chemistry, and different disorders. Having that foundation so I could guide my patients towards results oriented treatments and home care helped to establish my credibility, which in turn built my client base. Although my treatment area may have changed over the years, my approach is still the same: treat each patient as an individual and listen to what they need from me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The great thing about DFW is that you do not have to venture far to find a great time. My favorite past time is trying new restaurants with friends, with my go to spots being Mi Dia in Plano or Afrah in Richardson. I love that the weather here is so enjoyable most of the year that I try to be outside as much as possible. Having to get creative with activities over the past year has led me to discover disc golf, which is a great group activity for everyone. North Dallas alone has several courses so you can mix it up and check out the various beautiful parks and get a few hours of exercise while you’re at it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to Dr. Richard Eller and Dr. Michele Cavenee who have really mentored me in the realm of medical aesthetics. Without their support and education I would not be the aesthetician I am today.
