We had the good fortune of connecting with Lawanda Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lawanda, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to encourage people of all ages to be intentional about giving back to the community. I want my children and grandchildren to share my same work ethic, passion for learning, and being good stewards of the blessings God has bestowed upon them. God blesses us to be a blessing to others.

Being a breast cancer survivor, I want to be remembered by the impact I’ve placed on the community improving awareness and respectfully saving lives. Every year my family and I hold a breast cancer walk in the community I grew up in. We just held our 4th annual walk. We’re planting the seeds now for it continue to grow and hopefully one day be nationally recognized.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Professionally, I work as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I also hold a Master’s degree in Nursing Management and Leadership. One of my biggest joy is providing my patient’s and their caregivers with a clear understanding of evidence based healthcare to manage their current medical condition while educating them on preventative measures to improve their lifestyle.

I am also the proud owner of an online apparel medical scrub company named Ccouture Scrubs, LLC. My biggest challenges have been creating my brand to become a household name in the scrub business. Having an online business I had to quickly learn how to navigate social media platforms like Tik Tok, Instagram and Facebook.

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned the importance of self care and spending quality time with my family. Being able to pray, relax and recharge, gives me the energy needed to accomplish daily tasks and goals.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite evening spots to visit in Dallas is Trinity Grove. It’s easily accessible near downtown with multiple restaurants, a coffee bar and dessert bar to choose from. The atmosphere is nostalgic and it’s a great hangout spot. I love spots that give you a “feel good” feeling. The Immersive Experience is always fun. I’ve attended several and recommend it to anyone. I’ve recently heard that Immersive Gamebox in Deep Ellum was exciting and new. I plan on going soon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my husband and family. They have been my constant, unwavering support.
