Meet Laurie And Leslie Collins | Podcasters

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurie And Leslie Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laurie and Leslie, what do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, it’s our willingness to follow our curiosity and ask dumb questions. We are unabashed beginners and fans of Japan’s national sport – sumo. We have a lot to learn, and we share that journey with other beginners.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We just want the world to know that the key is not perfection. Some of our episodes are hilarious. Some are educational. And sometimes, when energy is low, they are just ok. But, we keep going, and that drive has helped us find a community all over the globe. The more open we are about our fandom, the more people seem to relate to us. The more fun WE have, the more people seem to enjoy what we make.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We always dream about hosting a sumo legend in Dallas-Fort Worth. Where would we take him? BBQ at Panther City or Goldee’s. Healthy lunches at True Food Kitchen in Dallas. Dinner at the Reata in Fort Worth. Dancing at Billy Bob’s. Perhaps a ballgame too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We took our first class in podcasting at Dallas Comedy House. We simply wouldn’t be here without their fine teachers, inspiration, and technical help. We also wouldn’t have kept podcasting without the encouragement of others in the sumo world – Corey and Siggy at the Dallas Sumo Club, Justin at Dark Circle Sumo, retired sumo wrestler Konishiki, and so many more. Also, we received such a warm-hearted welcome to the podcast world from other sumo podcasts – Grand Sumo Breakdown and Sumo Mainichi.

We wrote that one for fun and Silver Sound produced it. https://www.audacy.com/podcast/silver-podcast-network-6cd1a/episodes/silver-shorts-sumo-chicken-episode-1-f33da
