Meet Lauren Zeek | Small Business Owner & Sweet Treat Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Zeek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
What I hope people remember about me, more than making awesome sweets, is that I love the Lord. I pray that I live my life in such a way that others come to know Christ. I love running my own business and truly believe I am successful at it because I have followed God’s lead throughout the process. I hope that all of my customers feel cared for, welcome, and celebrated during our interactions, and that the sweet treats they get are a bonus on top of the way they are cared for during the ordering and creating process.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Credit must go to my grandpa, who was a fantastic oil painter! He passed along some creative gene and I’m proud to make it my own.
I, however, started out as a musician (and will forever be one!) I have a degree in music, and taught music for many years. Baking sweets became my creative outlet and side hustle to my main gig of teaching music. My creative juices are always looking for more ways to express themselves!
In 2022 I took baking sweet treats full time so I could stay at home with my wonderful daughter. It has been a blessing to hustle and watch this sweet business grow! I have learned a lot along the way, but most importantly that celebrations bring joy to life. Everyone has something to celebrate, and I want to play a small part in making those celebrations great memories for years to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my go to places in DFW must include Tex-Mex! Joe-T-Garcias and Glorias are some of my favorites. I also love anything outdoors: a hike around lake Grapevine, paddle-boarding at white rock lake, or going to Fossil Rim to see some animals. And two-stepping at Billy Bobs is always a fun time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My first shoutout has to be to the Easy Bake Oven I had when I was a child. If you can bake a cake by lightbulb nothing can stop you on your baking journey! In all seriousness, I wouldn’t have a successful business without the support of my family and friends. Special shoutout to my husband, who washes WAY too many dishes! My mom who loves peanut butter so much we have a cake dedicated to her! And a certain friend who took a leap of faith and let me create her wedding cake!
