We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Reed Simoes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’m pretty ambidextrous. Not only with my coordination, but also with how my brain learns and operates. My artistic endeavors have morphed over time into multiple creative careers built on a foundation of marketing and business…also a big reason why I like being both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
I first pursued an artistic career when I was 15 years old. As a professional ballerina, I was able to express myself through movement and become immersed in the world of production, art, and creativity. Towards the end of my ballet career, I began transitioning into Romana’s Pilates to become a Certified Instructor, providing my clients with the tools and knowledge I have equipped and challenged my body/mind with. It then didn’t take long for my creative juices to begin flowing in various industries that complimented my strengths and interests. For the past ten years, I have been completely immersed socially, digitally, and creatively in the Dallas ecosystem, with a heavy focus on production, communications, and power networking.
Having a background like I do has prepared me for taking risks, adapting to change, building and nurturing meaningful connections and relationships, exercising extreme discipline, and working with purpose. I now apply my past experiences to everything I am faced with today — full of confidence, determination, and gratitude.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a connector of dots, wearer of many hats, a mover and shaker, and soon to be mom! Out of all the accomplishments over my 15+ year career(s), having a child is the greatest role I could ever have or ask for. My husband is not only my business partner, but also my partner in life…couldn’t be more excited to embark on this new life together as creative professional parents!
Nothing is ever “easy”, but it sure is worth it. Wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the challenges and lessons along the way. Everything is considered a tool in the tool belt, a destination in itself! Yes we’re all on a continuous journey, but each stepping stone and stop along the way is worthy of our time and energy spent. Change = growth!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are very neighborhood centric here. Dallas has such a unique vibe, identity, and character…appealing to families, young professionals, established businesses, travelers and more. In fact, I’ve moved away a few times over the years, but always find my way back.
I always recommend taking the back roads, getting lost or exploring one area at a time. Dallas is now becoming more connected as a grid, encouraging pedestrians with trails and paths throughout the city!
Too many places for me to share as I have so many favorites as well as friends who own their own businesses. Love supporting small and shopping local, while also having everything I need at my fingertips (we are a big city after all). I will say, take advantage of the culture, diverse neighborhoods, lakes, trails, arts/design districts, shopping, dining and more! Don’t be afraid to patio hop or hop on a bike and discover Dallas!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Dad, Kimball Anderson. Producer/Director, Thought Leader, and Ultimate Communicator & Connector.
