Meet Lauren Pohl | Licensed Esthetician & Lash Technician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Pohl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, how do you think about risk?
Everyone takes risks everyday, right? Driving a car, buying something big like a car or house, starting a new job… changing careers. For me, taking risks is part of what got me where I am now. I dropped out of college before it even started to move from New Mexico to Texas – no job lined up, not knowing anyone.
I left the service industry after nearly ten years to take a job as an “accounting clerk”. Soon after, I stepped into a roll of a “finance, administration, and operations manager”. This was a risk not only for me but the company I worked for as I knew NOTHING about the tasks I’d soon be responsible for. Through hard work, lots of googling, and some night classes, I succeeded.
I decided this was the time to follow my dreams and getting a hold of what I want for my future.
I started school for my esthetics license. Once obtained after a long year of working full time, going to school part time at night, and a pandemic to top it off, I took the biggest risk of my life thus far. I quit my full time job to start my own business. I dove in 100% to build my brand from the ground up.
With great risks, comes great reward. I’ve never been more happy with where I am than where I am right now.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lauren Michelle Esthetics embodies me. Everything I believe in. I love meeting new people and getting to help them reach their lash and skincare goals is an added bonus. I have a passion to help people and a passion for the beauty industry. With the business I’ve created, I’m able to combine both of these passions to contribute in helping make people feel good about themselves! Unlike a lot of esthetician’s and lash techs who focus on one specific service, I chose to provide both. I found this has brought me and my clients closer. They can trust me with both their lashes and their skincare needs. It’s also let clients feel comfortable enough with me to try lashes or facials for the first time. Offering both services keeps me busy and engaged furthering my education in both services to be the best I can be for my clients! I definitely wouldn’t be where I am now without the skills and knowledge I learned from my previous job. Being in an accounting position gave me the knowledge to run a business and managing money to be successful.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d recommend spending some time in the stockyards, starting at Joe T’s, of course. A little shopping maybe and a night cap at Atico. If it’s football season we’d go to a TCU game (GO FROGS!), then pizza and wings at Buffalo Bro’s. The water gardens and botanical gardens is a must. Added bonus if there’s an event like concert in the garden or Beastro at the Fort Worth Zoo. Lastly I’d have to take my out of state friends to Hiem for some good old Texas barbecue. There’s tons of great restaurants and I’m a foodie so I’d imagine we’d spend a lot of time eating!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The amazing support group I’ve had behind me since deciding to start my esthetic journey should get all my recognition. Friends, family, fellow students, complete strangers that have found me on social media. It’s been truly inspiring to see and feel all the love and support cheering me on to chase my dream.
