We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Tye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before getting into newborn and maternity photography, I was a first grade teacher. I stopped doing that when my oldest son was born and wanted to find something to keep me busy but also something I enjoyed doing. I saved up to buy my first camera, did photos of friends for free to practice and slowly eased into opening a business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I offer maternity, newborn and infant milestone photography. I have an organic and simple style that I hope will be timeless for years to come. I’ve been doing photography for ten years and have specialized in newborns and maternity for the last seven. It hasn’t been easy and it’s taken a lot of patience, practice and hard work but I’m proud of where I am today. I’m always striving to improve and I strongly believe we can always grow!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh that’s fun! Living and working in Mckinney, I am definitely partial to downtown Mckinney! Some of our favorite spots there are The Yard, Ricks Chophouse and Square Burger. I also love Legacy West!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d first have to say my husband for believing in me 12 years ago when I decided to pick up photography! He cheered me on and always believed in me. And of course I have to shout out to my amazing clients, many who have been with me since the beginning. I couldn’t be where I am today without them!
