We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
During quarantine, my husband and I decided to try some well known spicy candy. We made our purchase and we noticed that it took some time to get to us, but when we finally received our candy we joked around about making some here at home so that we didn’t have to wait on our craving. We went to the store and bought all the candy that we had originally purchased through the candy company. I started experimenting on Chile “spicy” flavors and making it look like as the candy that we had purchased through the candy company. I was content with the way the candy came out and uploaded a picture on Social media. I immediately saw a positive response and was flooded with messages asking if I was selling the candy and for how much. That’s when me and my husband realized how much of a market there is on Dulces Enchilados “Spicy Candy”.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others. I have a huge sweet tooth so I understand the urgency of having your cravings fulfilled . So we at The Pink Flamingo by L will respond to any customer questions or order request in a timely manner. I am most proud and excited in seeing how The Pink Flamingo by L grows and expands. We started off local and now we are shipping all throughout Texas. Coming from a Family owned business background. I understand the importance of customer service, and quality expectations in the products that we are putting out. I don’t think it’s hard work. We always try and put ourselves the customers place and give our customers the service that they deserve and that we would like to receive. We strive to give the best customer service to all our customers. Lessons that I have learned is that business is business. Not everyone will agree with some of your decisions, but this is your brand you decide what is right for it. The Pink Flamingo by L started as a small family owned business, but there is more to come we have projects in the making for this brand that we hope to share with you all soon. I would like to let anyone out there trying to make a decision on starting a business to go ahead and do so, take a leap of faith.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely Down Town, Dallas has one of the most beautiful skylines in Texas. So I would tour them at night when the city comes alive. You’re in Texas so BBQ is a must Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum. Gator’s Dallas it’s a lively sports bar with good frozen drinks for the ladies. Truck Yard, food trucks in an out door space. A stroll at Keyed Warren Park, sight seeing. The giant Eyeball in Down Town, Margaret Hunt Hill bridge, Dallas Arboretum, Ft. Worth water garden, At&T Stadium, Vitruian Park, Rainbow Vomit. Also my family we like making the most of spending time together. A cookout in the backyard from making ribs and brisket, to fajitas and street tacos. Enjoying a few drinks and garnishing them with The Pink Flamingo by L rim paste.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my supportive husband, my family, my friends, also all our customers with out them this brand would not be possible. So a BIG THANK YOU to all of you.
