We had the good fortune of connecting with LaToya Clemons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaToya, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe risk plays an important role in us living in our full purpose both personal and business. Without taking risks one would live, what I would say, a boring unmeaningful life. Whether you are thinking about a new career, a new car, starting a family, or even starting a business. All of those choices require risks taking and stepping out of your comfort zone.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets JCD Forward apart from other companies is we are a one-stop shop for all businesses. We assist in not only the preparation and filing of state and federal documents for entity formation but also assist with building a solid foundation and scaling businesses.
I am most excited and proud of the fact that I am setting a positive image for my girls while also preparing for their future.
I guess you can say that I have always been somewhat of an entrepreneurial spirit. I remember being an artist at a point in time during my elementary years. I would freestyle draw Looney Tone characters and then sell them to my classmates. At another point in time, I was a treat maker, preparing anything from dipped strawberries, pineapples, pretzels, Oreos, the list goes on. Once I lost my job and I was expecting my first child and was taking my future more seriously.
That’s when I found the opportunity that changed my life and started my REAL entrepreneurial journey. I first open my business as an inbound call center from home, which has evolved into a business and credit consultants agency. My team and I have assisted over 20+ individuals also start their entrepreneurial journey.
No, it has not always been easy on this journey, but I don’t regret the choices I have made or the lessons I have learned along the way. I was able to overcome alot of challenges that most business owners encounter by having a solid support system and letting the constant denial of opportunities be my fuel to build my own table.
One of the many lessons I’ve learned was to always make sure that everything is done correctly the first time. This not only saves time and money but will also allow you the opportunity to research more while also becoming an expert in your industry.
My brand is my story, I come from a criminal background history that made it hard to survive let alone thrive in the world. So I decided to make my own path by my own rules. Now I teach others to do the same for themselves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite places to go in the DFW area are:
Klyde Warren Park
Fort Worth Zoo
Harlowe MXM
Vidorra
Lady and the Pitt
Fort Worth Water Gardens
Fort Worth Botanic Garden
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take the time to Shoutout my children Joi’ and Toi’ Forward, mom Brenda Clemons, and my children’s father Booma Forward. They have been and continue to be the greatest part of my motivation to want to be better and do better in this world.
