We had the good fortune of connecting with Latisha Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latisha, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
My most recent read, A New Earth By: Eckhart Tolle has changed my mindset as of late. What stood out to me was the advice to create inner space between you and the emotional highs and lows of life. As a business owner, the highs & lows can really affect you overtime. This book taught me to go for the ride and not get too hung up on the highs & lows of your accomplishments because good or bad, they all pass.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of a passion ive had since my pre-teen years. Aside from holistic healing, skin and haircare has been an obsession of mine all on its own. It wasn’t until I combined them, did I realize this was a real talent of mine. Taking my passion seriously and pursuing a career out of it was not easy. The most difficult part of getting here was financially supporting every area of my brand. It takes discipline and self education to know how to scale your business properly while investing in yourself so your company grows consistently. What sets me apart from others is the dedication I have for creating quality in every aspect of my brand. From our recipes, to our images and aesthetic and especially the inclusion of our range customers in our marketing and advertisement. The most important lesson learned ive learned along the way is to have a plan but take my time. Don’t feel rushed to achieve your greatness, it’s yours so it will be achieved if you don’t give up. I want the world to know my brand was made with everyone in mind. Women, Men, Children even expecting mothers.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have to check out the art at Oklahoma Contemporary Art Museum! Maybe go for drinks during the day to The OBar followed by dinner at Frida SouthWest to try their seafood tamale. Spending time at scissortail park during the day is great because they have fun activities like kayaking. Other awesome restaurants we’d go to are Vast, Neighborhood Jam for brunch, Uppercrust for wood fired pizza, or Yo Pablo for delicious birra tacos!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story wouldn’t be possible without my dad. His influence is the cause of my love for holistic healing. From such a young age I remember him teaching me what fruits & vegetables were good for specific body parts or that the skin on most fruits & vegetables hold majority of the nutrients so try to incorporate them in recipes as often as you can. I’m forever thankful he shares his passion and knowledge with me, even to this day.
