Meet LaSheila Coffer | Travel agent & Tax preparer

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaSheila Coffer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaSheila, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process originally being able to travel more for less. I was cruising at least once a year so getting it at a cheaper rate sounded good but making extra money was also a plus. I was looking for another revenue but enjoying life too.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business was the beginning of a new life for me to live more free and enjoy life on my terms because I set my hours of operation. I am a survivor of an attempted murder/suicide in 2015, by my husband so my life was turned upside down for awhile. I had to rebuild, grieve and figure out how I was going to survive, all at the same time. I saw this business giving me freedom to not feel caged and open up more avenues of income…all in one. I also walked away from a job of 28yrs and moved to DFW because of terrible treatment and no advancement in sight, due to poor management.
It was not easy then or now because it takes a lot of discipline to own a business. The countless hours of learning, staying engaged and just staying focused on what has to be done, while working and dealing with obstacles can be overwhelming, at times. I am still a work in progress.
My story is about “never giving up” even when it seems to not be working in your favor. Sometimes you have to literally “move” to be happy and start over.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I still don’t know the area well because I don’t get out as much as I should, but some friends take me around and I google new places to try.
We would definitely visit the
Red Crab Seafood restaurant and
Extreme Burgers and Daiquiri Depot. I would probably have to see what’s happening that week but I love Farmers markets and Traders Village. I would definitely take them to my church…Ben Washington to praise God.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give Credit to my family for being supportive and understanding of my need to change certain aspects of my life but also to my God. He spared my life to be here with my family and lead a normal life.
