We had the good fortune of connecting with Larrah Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Larrah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had been planning events for previous clients while working my regular job. In 2020, during a time of worldwide uncertainty, I was given the opportunity to plan an extravagant anniversary party. This experience taught me a lot about myself and made me consider the idea of starting my own event-planning business. The following year, I took a leap of faith and created Larrah Jackson Events. The rest, as they say, is history!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At Larrah Jackson Events, we are more than just a full-service event planning company. We are a team that is dedicated to crafting unique and unforgettable experiences for our clients. Whether it’s a local wedding or a destination celebration, we don’t just create visually stunning tablescapes. Our mission is to deliver high-touch, elevated experiences that not only meet but exceed our clients’ expectations, leaving a lasting impression that they will cherish forever.
I am ecstatic about taking Larrah Jackson Events to the next level by enlisting a team of talented individuals to work with me full-time. With this expansion, I aim to establish our brand as an exceptional event-planning powerhouse that delivers standout experiences to clients. I’m excited to bring fresh energy and innovative ideas to the table, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.
Establishing Larrah Jackson Events in 2021 was a challenging endeavor, and there are still tough days. However, my unwavering determination and boundless enthusiasm assure me of a bright future for our company. I chose to name the company after myself because it symbolizes my deep-rooted passion and unwavering dedication to creating happiness for others through special celebrations. This commitment is at the heart of everything we do, and it’s what sets us apart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Although I love many places in Dallas—especially Mister Charles—I would definitely recommend having a full-blown Fort Worth experience! I would first, of course, take my friend to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Watch the cattle drive and walk around Hotel Drover and Mule Alley. Afterward, we would cool off with a fresh but strong margarita at Joe T Garcia’s, then have an incredible dinner at Wicked Butcher. I would ensure my friend stayed at Hotel Drover, Crescent Hotel, or Bowie House that weekend! We would also see the Kimball Art Museum and ride bikes on the Trinity River. My list of Fort Worth favorites could go on and on!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was fortunate to have learned from Lara Beth, one of the best in the event industry, right after college graduation. She is a person you can observe and acquire so much from. While working at The Star/Dallas Cowboys, I enjoyed working with Tricia Schneider, the owner of Media West, a well-known event production company. Although I didn’t initially realize it, she played a significant role in my success with the Anniversary Party in 2020. I consider her to be both my mentor and friend. Furthermore, Lynn Easton from Easton Events has been immensely helpful in teaching me how to run my brand in the luxury market. Without the support of these three ladies and my loving husband, Jason, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
